Hello all, I am a new user of samba, that's look pretty cool. I use samba 3.x. There are only windows 2000 client(and 1 XP) in french language. I don't have any license of some server version like windows NT4 server, 2000 or 2003 server. One think i would like to do is setting the time of the windows 2000 client. I write in the "logon script" : net time /domain:mydomain

We run Samba 2.2.8, is there a version of Samba (2.2.x/3.x) that allows me to do the following : Go into Poledit, add a group that corresponds to a UNIX group (e.g. Staff) and set policies on it, having those policies apply to ANYONE in UNIX group 'staff' ? The samba server we have is the only PDC and have several NT4 servers as members only. Any thoughts? I

So only for old NT4 style PDC - BDC environment one needs poledit. While AD's (with virtual pdc role servers) can use the MMC.? We got a pure Samba AD environment and thus it should work. Hello, We recently install a Samba PDC for linux and W2k clients. I don't find how to apply security policies editing with Poledit to users-groups defined by ldap organisation units. Policies are only working with default user and individual user. I see with poledit on the domain two groups named "domain users" or "admin users" but I don't understand what they are. I

I'm creating a deploy plan, for strict client policies (to comply to ISO standards and security) For mixed win 7 enterprise and win 10 enterprise on a Samba Active Directory. On the lookout if Samba would be any different towards client policies. I've been reading about policies and the documentation says to grab poledit.exe from the NT SP6a file. There are many policy settings that are not available via this tool. Isn't there something newer that could be used to create the .pol file needed by samba to implement policies? Or will this only be available with samba4?

Hi @all, I have some question I can't find a explanation. I have a standalone Samba3 as PDC. It works perfect with LDAP. Now I want to implement Policies. 1) Is it possible to use GPO from ads ? And if so, where to store this policies. 2) Or can I only use policies created with poledit from NT4 which should be stored in NETLOGON. Any help or links about this would be apreciated.

I have an NTConfig.POL I created from poledit with the Windows 2000 Administrator toolkit. It contains my WSUS configuration, and NTConfig.POL is placed in my [netlogon] share and is being loaded fine by the clients.
