NT: Cannot set default print options for client
Hi there!
* I put my printer drivers on the [print$] share
* Did everything as described in the Samba-Howto Colletcion
(made the first connection as root, etc.)
* Connected to the printers with a normal user and now I cannot change the
default print options allthough the user is in the local
Administrators group. Everything is grayed out.
Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Thank you.

netlogon runas Administrator problem solved
Hi Sambatistas,
a few days ago there was a discussion, how to force
jobs runas administrator at netlogon.
If you use a default.bat at netlogon this is executed
as the logon user , therefor you are running in rights problems
if you wanna execute job which need admin right like regedit /s .
I found myself in this problem too, pushing
the user to use the logon screensaver as default,
i created a reg

ldapsmb
Hello List,
i try to build up a samba/ldap pdc using samba 3.0.1 and ldapsmb-1.0. It seems
that ldapsmb-1.0 did not work with samba 3.0 in non compat mode. Searching for a
newer version was frustrating. The only thing i found were dead links to
ldapsmb-1.2.
If i look inside all this samba mailing lists, it seems that erverybody is using
ldapsmb with samba 3.0. Something is going wrong and i

specified network name is no longer available
Hi Volker,
Jordan Coleman, Murray Taylor, David Kennel,
Frederic Corne and Stephen Jones all wrote
about the problem of a specified network
intermittently reported "no longer available"
when writing to a file.
It's the same problem which I complained
about on April 7. I then assumed it had to
do with the presence of a w2k3 server in
the domain. The problem disappeared after

Undocumented behaviour of diag when replacing the diagonal of a matrix?
Dear list,
is anyone aware of the following behavious of diag when used to replace
diagonals (plural!) of a matrix?
Small example: The following is documented and clearly to be expected:
A <- matrix(0, nrow = 5, ncol = 5)
diag(A) <- 1; A
BUT, what about the following? When executing the code of `diag<-` line
by line, it throws errors. So why does it work?
diag(A[-1, ]) <- 2; A

Thanks for checking, and thanks to Val and Michael for testing.
I just committed the patch to OpenBSD, others will likely take
care of merging it to -portable.

[LLVMdev] LTO & PIC
Due to the LTO modifications to the build system it is not possible to do
old non LTO builds that involve some old PIC behaviour, this means Cygwin
and possible other platforms old behaviours is broken, and they are not
LTO'ed yet either.
Would it be possible to have both the old PIC behaviour and the new LTO
based behavious coincide via a flags like --enable-lto=(yes,no) and for
older PIC

Problem with ability to dial out when a channel is used from an external equipment in a point to multi point configuration
I have grouped two capi controllers using * as the outgoing msn.
when the first two channels are busy normally and I try to use a third channel the channels from the second controller are used.
But when a channel is occupied by the capisuite fax and we need a third channel asterisk responds with "every one is busy congested at this time".
I think the same behavious would have happened

sieve-extprograms strips Return-Path headers
The sieve-extprograms extension strips Return-Path headers before
passing mail off to the external program. The patch to remove this
behavious is trivial (and attached), but since it appears to be
deliberate I felt I should investigate further.
I believe this is basically a cut-and-paste error. The code to strip
Return-Path has been there since the sieve-pipe plugin for Dovecot 1.x,

[Flac-users] Win2k 1.1.0 crash
Hi,
I just started using FLAC and am very impressed. However I have
run into a problem with the current (and other) Windows
executables.
If I encode with a higher compression level (say 7 or 8) I stand a
high probability of BSODing or just plain rebooting. Strangely
enough this behavious seems to go away if I use the default 5
compression level.
Has anyone else had problems

Windows 2003 AD/Kerberos Ticket error
I'm attempting to configure Samba 3.0.4 to work with Windows 2003 Active
Directory, mapping users' home directories automatically. Currently we
use this method in production with Windows 2000 but wish to migrate to
2003. The problem seems to be Kerberos related. I was able to join the
Linux box (RedHat 9) to the AD. I can do a "kinit <username>"

I'm trying to get Samba 3.0.2 working against a Windows 2003 Active

Users and Computers snap in but when trying to map a drive from Windows
you just get a continuous password dialog bog and on the Linux box Samba
