SAMBA 3.0.2 printing problem
Hi I've recently upgraded to 3.0.2 from 2.2.8 on Redhat 9. We have 2 Linux servers and a number of windows XP machines. The primary domain controller has a printer which is shared and to which all the computers have access. Since upgrading, the other Linux server cannot print to shared printers on the primary linux controller or on windows machines and cannot install new shared printers from

Page_log with number of pages prtinted wrong
The Adobe drivers (on request of the printer PPD associated with them) often put a PJL header in front of the main PostScript part of the print file. Thus, the printfile starts with <1B >%-12345X or <escape>%-12345X instead of %!PS). This leads to the CUPS daemon auto-typing the incoming file as a print-ready file, not initiating a pass through the pstops filter (to speak more

Printing from Windows is printing PS commands instead of job!
I've about run out of ideas and need some help. I have an HP OfficeJet 7110 installed on my Fedora Core 3 box. From Linux, it prints perfectly, the Test Page works, I can print from Mozilla/Thunderbird/Firefox, KDE applications, and even Emacs, all without any issues whatsoever. The problem is I can't seem to get it to work when I share the printer to Windows. I've shared it to

Can't do Landscape with ManualFeed
Hi: I am haviong problems with Landscape mode on our HP printers (many models). I am running 2.2.7a on two different servers. One is using the "old style" printing (using "printer driver file" parameter). The other is using the newer printing system. It is the same code on both. Both are Solaris systems. For the old one, the drivers are installed on the client, for the

Samba messing with PJL to printer
We have a Kyocera FS-3750 printer here that works fine from Windoze (NT 4.0 and 98) clients if connected "directly" via the Windows "LPR" interface but which spews out pages of garbage if spooled through Samba 2.0.7 on a Solaris box. What happens is the printer for some reason thinks it is being sent text but the first few lines are really PJL commands : %-12345X@PJL JOB @PJL

CUPS Printing to PostScript Printer
I'm having trouble printing to a HP LaserJet 6MP Postscript printer. I'm using CUPS and normal UNIX printing works fine. I've tried to configure SAMBA for point and click printing. That all seemed to go okay except that what is printed is: ===================================================== -12345X@PJL JOB @PJL SET RESOLUTION = 600 @PJL SET ECONOMODE = OFF @PJL ENTER LANGUAGE =

system-config-network crash
I have been trying to get a EVDO modem to work with Centos 5 and earlier this evening I used system-config-network to add it to the system. Now when I try to run system-config-network again it crashes with the following error. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this? Nb of copies don't appear in page_log file
Hi I am currently using Samba 3.0.11 and Cups 1.1.23 with Windows PostScript drivers and manufacturer PPDs on WinXP clients. When I print multiples copies of a document from a Windows XP box, the number of copies appearing in the Cups "page_log" file always takes the "1" value but the printer prints the correct number of copies. When I do the same on Linux (with the lpr

Printing "garbage"
I'm using wine v1.0 rc2 under debian lenny. My CUPS printer (Brother HL2030) works with no problems under linux. I've been trying to get printing from wine working without success. This is what I have tried: 1) renamed the existing ~/.wine directory to force a clean wine config 2) run: wine notepad 3) created some text in notepad 4) File->print in notepad - my CUPS printer shows as the

Samba printing and CUPS
Well, I have a strange one again. Using samba version 2.2.5 and cups version 1.1.15. We have 2 printers over the network, both TCP/IP-based Jetdirect printers. on is on x.x.x.32, the other on x.x.x.38. I can print to the laserjet on IP 32 all day long. However, both on Windows clients, print jobs are not even seen in the que (either windows print que or CUPS web interface). When I try to

What am I missing here?!
OK, I've tried changing my printcap name from printcap to cups. Printing works fine locally using CUPS on the Samba box. What am I missing here? Why can't I print to the Samba box via the Windows and linux clients? Shared directories work fine. I am really frustrated here and have exhausted Google and all other resources I have. Here's my smb.conf for what it's worth.

Trouble with CUPS/SAMBA
Hi all, I'm new to this list, as to SAMBA, and I'm struggling with getting a printer to work as a shared printer in a Windows network with a redhat 9 server. The printer is a HP 4550 Color LaserJet, installed with CUPS to the server, via JetDirect (port 9100). It prints testpages fine from the Linux-server. It was installed with the install-printer-utility in RedHat9. I have then shared

frustrating - which ppd for win clients
I have had terrible luck trying to find a ppd that works correctly for both win9x clients and winNT/2000/XP at the same time. The CUPS method is to find one ppd that works for all and I have tried several: those at linuxprinting.org, hp's sourceforge site, vendor winNT ppds (docs suggest these), and vendor win98 ppds. I have tried filtering PJL and not filtering PJL. I have the stock
