domain join & kinit woes
Hi
I've got problems getting things to work here.. The setup:
AD: W2008R1
client: Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid alpha2), with samba 3.4.3, MIT 1.7
I get an error when joining the domain, and when trying to kinit using the
machine principal with any other name than HOST$ (and that worked only
after forcing the crypto to des-cbc-crc):
nexus6 etc # net ads join -W ORG.AALTO.FI -U wa.aaltonen

Kerberos5 ticket renewal & 'net ads join' w/o authentication
Hello,
I have two issues with Kerberos administration using Samba and this
results from my lack of familiarity with it. I am hoping someone can
point me in the right direction.
The first issue is with automatically renewing the Kerberos tickets. The
second issue deals with my having to authenticate each time I attempt to
join an AD domain. The Samba documentation indicates that I should *not*

Interdomain trust with different WINS servers
Hi
I am trying to stablish a relation between two different Samba domains. Each
domain has two PDCs, all they are WINS servers, and the two domains are in
different subnets. They are configured to use LDAP as the user/group/machine
database. First, I will create the relation, being DOM1.CORP the trusted
domain, and DOM2.CORP the trusting domain, so in a server of DOM1.CORP, I
create a user this

Trusted Domain Gorups
Hey all,
I have posted this question before but never seem to get a response:
I was wondering if anyone can help me with the question of groups and
trusted domains.
We have the setup of 2 AD Domains running in native 2003
(I don't know the specific trust setup as I am not the Admin for the windows
side)

Dom2
I have the following working:

pdbedit will only add users to the local machine domain, not the global domain
Hello all,
When I try to add a user to my secrets.tdb file on my Samba 3.2.0 PDC, the
users are always added under the local machine domain, not the global domain.
That is, if my PDC machine name is srv1, and it is PDC for the domain DOM1,
then whenever I add a user using "pdbedit -a -u username", then that user
gets placed under the local domain SRV1, not the global domain DOM1. So my

Do Domain Local groups work via 'valid users = "@dom\Group Name"'?
Hi there
We have a bunch of Samba 3.0.24 servers that use winbind to integrate
into an existing Win2K3-based AD infrastructure. We have our own forest
(call it FOREST, with sub-domains "DOM1" and "DOM2") - but have
transitive and two-way trusts to other Win2K3 forests.
We have set up (under Windows) a bunch of "DOM1" Domain Local Groups
containing a mixture of

Problems with a trust relation between samba and samba different subnet
Hi, well once u try lot and no good result is time to ask.
My friends I want to make to domains running samba+ldap to share
resources, I want to create a trust relation in two directions. Both
domains have wins enable but are on different subnet.
Domain Name: DOM1 Netbios Name = DOM1PDC 192.168.50.0/24
Domain Name: DOM2 Netbios Name = DOM2PDC 192.168.40.0/24
Both networks are separate,

MUST use the same WINS server for trusts to work. Why have two
domains?

Domain trusts (Again)
I hope someone can answer this since my other emails have gone unanswered.
I am using Samba 3.0.7 on both machines and am using LDAP. I believe
that the trusts are working but I am still having a slight problem.
I guess we'll use DOM1 and DOM2 for the domain names. DOM2 is trusting
DOM1. If a DOM1 user tries to locally login to a DOM1 computer, it
gives a "System could not log you

Setting an interface on domu to receive all traffic for the host machine
Hi,
I am new to xen and needed some help doing a networking setup on xen. I am using a Centos host with the xen modules installed. I have created a dom1 which contains another centos machine. I want the interface eth1 of dom1 to receive all traffic that is seen for eth0 on the physical machine. The interfaces of dom1 are bridged to xenbr0. I have set eth1 to promiscuous mode on dom1. Security Issue??
I have noticed the following behavior when testing out Samba 3.0.1 on RH9
with ldap authentication.
Linux Samba V3.0.1 set up as PDC for domain DOM1 has a user test1. Two NT4
domains DOM2 and DOM3 also have a user called test1 with the same password
as the user in DOM1 (all three users have the same username and password).
All servers are on the same local subnet.
When user1 does a logon to

Samba domain member server does not see list of users from PDC
Hi,
I have some problems with the following setup:
DOM1 (PDC) -> DOM2 (PDC) <->DOM2(Member server)
The users and groups from DOM1 (MS WinNT4 domain) are nicely visible
on Samba PDC (DOM2) with established trust, but domain member server
in DOM2 domain does not show any users from the DOM1 domain (only
users from DOM2 are visible), BUT!! users from DOM1 can login to it
and access shares

SSH_PRIVSEP_USER configurable at runtime?
Hi,
Right now, the unprivileged account for privilege separation is only
configurable at compile time (SSH_PRIVSEP_USER). I'd like to ask if it
would be acceptable to have the account runtime configurable by adding
something like
PrivilegeSeparationAccount foo
to sshd_config.
The reason I'm asking is this. I'm working on a long overdue change to
Cygwin which is supposed to get

Interdomain Trusts & winbind
Hi List,
In an effort to keep this succinct and orderly I'll briefly state what I'm
trying to do:
I have two samba domains, DOM1 and DOM2. They are on separate subnets and
all IP routing is configured.
DOM1 has ~100 users on one samba DC and uses the ldap backend. Works
great and has been in service for a while. Samba version is 3.0.29.
DOM2 has ~10 users on one samba DC and uses

Questions about the new idmap interface
Hi,
I tried to configure the new idmap interface. Currently without much success.
I have two samba domains, trusting each other. Each PDC using it's own LDAP
server. I tried

idmap config DOM1:default = yes
idmap config DOM1:backend = ldap
idmap config DOM1:ldap_base_dn = ou=Idmap,dc=dom1,dc=mydomain,dc=de

Xen network-route : mix Public and Private IP on a Front-Back architecture
Hi everyone,
I need your help. I would like to create a front-back architecture with Xen.
My physical server has only one public Interface.
Currently, my DOM0 is using the network-route configuration:
*(network-script ''network-route netdev=eth0'')
(vif-script vif-route)*
My DOM1 is configured with a public IP + proxy_arp with DOM0. DOM1 can
connect any address on
