Samba as remote file share
Hello,
I have a client who is hoping to use Samba over the internet. He hopes
to be able to setup a single mount point that can be used by employees
from various locations via their broadband internet connections. The
clients will be a mixture of Linux, Windows 98, and Windows 2000/XP
machines. I know that a solution like this would be possible if all of
the clients and the server were on

Windows ME Logon scripts
I cannot seem to execute any logon %U.bat scripts. It see's them because I get a black box screen and a message 'running logon scripts'.
If the user.bat file does not exist it simply skips this step. So I know it sees my bat files. If I execute it from the windows ME pc after the pc is booted up it works. The bat file is as follows:
rem Network logon script
net use h: \\win\homes

flintlock issues
Hi people
I'm running Xapian (1.0.9) and more specifically omega to index a few
different databases.
After the databases are first indexed (by user A), the dirs get
chmod'ed to 0777 to allow user B full access to them.
Even after the indexing is done, the file "flintlock" still exists in
all database dirs. It's owned by user A (perm: -rw-------).
When user B wants

I have replaced the actual domain name and the name of the PDC with words
DOMAIN_NAME and PDC_NAME. In both cases, the correct domain name and pdc
name are used.
I removed, waited, and then re-added my linux server to our domain from the
server manager on our PDC.
When I then run smbpasswd -j DOMAIN_NAME -r

transfer to Microsoft Distributed File Service
Hi, list:
Usually, "//server_name/share" is passed to smbclient to do a transfer. However, in case of filing repositores using MS DFS, can smbclient be passed "//domain_name/dfs_share/share_link"? I guess not.
Looking forward to clarification,

Permissions problem
Hi everyone (oh yeah, and I am new to the list but have a little Samba
experience).
I have a Samba 3.0.1 install on a Fedora Core 1 (.2138 kernel non-smp -
not that it should matter for this). I have created a group called
"osla" for the users in my domain and I have Samba working properly as a
PDC, or at least properly in so far as I can join clients to the server,
run scripts and

I''d like the application to be able to determine x set of data is for y

I can obtain the domain name from the request by using:
