Samba3 PDC + WinXP --> profile not found
Hi!
Sorry for asking that, because I think this error is very frequent, but
I can't solve it. I searched over the Google and mostly the samba
mailing list archives, but I couldn't find anything useful about it.
Here is the situation: We are using A Samba3 server with LDAP
password backend, configured as WINS and PDC server. We're also using
roaming profiles. And here is the

Roaming profiles
I want to setup a linux box with samba as a file and print server for a
LAN of 20 NT 4.0 SP3 workstations. I want the home direcotories to be on
the server the clients to have roaming profiles.
For this, do I have to make the linux box a domain controller? I want to
avoid it if I can, because the domain control code in not on the
production releases. I don't want to setup an NT server either.

Roaming Profiles only for Admin?
Hi all,
I am currently fighting with roaming user profiles which shall be
stored on an Ubuntu 8.04 Xeon (64 bit) box. I'm running the stock
Ubuntu packages (version 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.4). The Ubuntu box runs as
PDC with a LDAP backend.
Adding a Win 2000 SP4 workstation to the domain works flawlessly. If I
log on on the workstation with a root-like account (UNIX user id 0,

Hello
I'm running Debian Etch with distro kernel & Samba package (2.6.18-5-686

Hi,
I was searching for few days in this mailing list but I didn''t find how to solve my tc problem.
Feel free to ask me more details if you think there are relevant.
I''m using a Gentoo 2.4.32-gentoo-r2 and I''m trying to test a *weighted fair queuing* (WFQ)
implementation. See http://home.sch.bme.hu/~tusi/wfq/

user profil wipe in a samba 4 AD domain
Sorry for the delayed answer, I received your answer while I was gone.
My user are created using the RSAT tool directly from a Window box. We
use pbis cause in case my company want to go for a pay version of the
AD client. The main reason is that the sys admin job is on ly
temporary, thus if any problem occur after they could go for a pay
version and get help.

user profil wipe in a samba 4 AD domain
I look at your article, and it did not change my view about profile.
As we did not use any roaming/mandatory profile, nor we have any
redirection.
the only roaming we have is dedicated to few users and we use NFS as
they are under linux, and way more simpler to set up. Strangely we do
not have problems with those profiles. Maybe I am in a situation were

multiple domain served by Samba
Dear All,
I have a working Samba AD for my company (company.intranet) under
Debian/GNU. Now I'm requested to create a domain for another company.
Can I use the same server with the same Samba for multiple domain? Can
same samba serve parallel the company.intranet (with company\user) and
the othercompany.intranet (othercompany\user) domains? May I just run

user profil wipe in a samba 4 AD domain
Yes that is exactly the point and why we implemented the AD in the first place.
But still every person connecting to any workstation gets a home
directory created whether it is on Linux or windows.
And if I understood well, if no roaming profile in place on each
machine the domain.user is created.
Thus leading to blank home directory every time your user connect for
the first time to a

Win XP profile problem...
I'm hoping someone may have run across this issue before. I have a client
running a relatively recent version of Samba (the exact version number
escapes me at the moment). Windows XP client machines running against samba
as a PDC with roaming profiles active.
They can log off just fine, and their profile gets successfully written to
the server... likewise when they log back on to the

user profil wipe in a samba 4 AD domain
OK for the local profiles. I got both of them one call joe and the
other domain.joe.
Saw it, no problem about that. I copied the data from local to domain one.
The thing is that after few days the domain.joe was emptied. The joe
did stay the same.
And I do not get why the domain.joe got blanked (all data gone)
Cheers for the help

Roaming Profiles & oplocks problems
I'm running FreeBSD 5.4-STABLE with Samba 3.0.20 configured as a PDC
serving a small-ish network (10 XP hosts). My problem concerns roaming
profiles - some XP clients take ages to logon and logoff. On doing some
Googling I identified the 'profile acls' parameter as being a likely
fix. However, I seem to have got myself into one of two scenarios:
a) With 'profile acls'

Roaming profiles. How to do it ?
Hi all..
I'm using Samba 3.0.2a on Mandrake 10, serving +/- 50 win98 clients.
I'm using this options:
logon path = \\%N\%U\profile
logon home = \\%N\%U\profile
but the roaming profile seems do not working... at least the way that I
want. (maybe this is the right behavior).
What I want:
