Broken pipe, x86_64 CentOS 5.2
Hi All,
I have a problem with torque (openPBS) on x86_64 CentOS 5.2. Just to add there's
no problem on a 32bit CentOS 5.2 or 64bit Ubuntu 8.04.
The problem is that pbs_mom's child quits without giving any error logs.
[root at frodo9 torque-2.3.3]# strace -f pbs_mom

NIS failover
We just updated our configuratiosn to have multiple NIS servers, when we
initiated a test of client failover, we were disapointed.
It seemed that the only way to get a filaover was to /etc/init.d/ypbind restart.
It behaves as indicated in
http://bugs.opensolaris.org/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=5084845 using
ypbind-1.17.2-13 on Centos 4.5 / Linux xxxxxxxxxxxx 2.6.9-55.0.12.ELsmp #1 SMP

SIGPIPE in assorted apps after "yum update"
Hello,
I have several systems which I recently updated with
yum -y update
to all the latest packages. These systems use yum-priorities and use
the CentOS (priority 1) EPEL (priority 5) and rpmforge (priority 10)
repositories. After the updates, dhcpd stopped working with a SIGPIPE
error which occurs shortly after it attempts to fork into the
background. I worked around that problem by building

Samba4 Kerberos kinit does not resolve kdc hostname
Hi,
i am really depressed at this moment. I set up an domain controller
using samba4 and an raspberry pi.
I can join the domain and everything works BUT kerberos has some strange
problems resolving my raspberry hostname.
First of all some information:
Raspberry pi is DHCP Server and DNS-Server (BIND9).
First of all the configurations:
Code:
/usr/local/samba/etc/smb.conf
# Global

Samba4 Kerberos kinit does not resolve kdc hostname
Hi,
/etc/resolv.conf looks exactly like this:
domain family.rapsberry.local
search family.rapsberry.local
nameserver 192.168.178.222
So to answer your question: yes the only Nameserver the raspberry has is
itself.
Greetings

smbd hung processes - Samba 3.0.7
We've seen Samba crash and burn twice in the last 48 hours - it just
started happening, and we have no idea what might be causing it. I'm
hoping that someone will recognize this problem.
Platform: we are running RedHat Enterprise Server, with Samba 3.0.7.
We're using security=domain in an old-style NT4 domain environment.
The symptom that we're seeing is that the number of

Samba4 Kerberos kinit does not resolve kdc hostname
Hi,
thank you so! much. Turning off avahi daemon was the solution!
rapsberry instead of raspberry is a typo during porivision actually.
Thank you again :)
I will write an entry on my blog to make sure that does not happen again.
One last time for google bots.
IF you receive
kinit: Cannot contact any KDC for realm while getting initial credentials
make sure you don't run avahi

Searching samba ldap without authentication
Hello,
I'm writing a set of python scripts that need to consult samba ldap
database without authentication.
I've set up 2 machines, the first as PDC, the second as BDC.
I run my scripts on both and while they run fine on the PDC they end
with error on the BDC.
Here is the minimal example that behave this way:

Samba DC join fails - IPv4/IPv6 issue
Hi list,
I just tried to add a second DC to an existing Samba4 domain using samba-tool

But the join failed, complaining about being unable to find a writeable DC:

Bug 6870 resurfaced in Samba 4.2.10
According to this bugzilla entry, bug 6870 has been fixed as of at least
version 3.5:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6870
However, I assert that it is present in 4.2.10, which ships with Debian
Jessie.
On my home network (IPv4 and IPv6), a box with Samba 4.2.10 with IPv6
disabled (via sysctl), will fail to contact a DC because the IPv6
connect fails immediately before the v4

Rsync crash
Hello,
I'm using an rsync server on a Linux packages repository (deb packages)
to sync all mirrors.
The mirrors sync every 10 minutes. Most of the time, there is nothing to
sync, except a timestamp file, so the sync is pretty fast.
Anyway, after it has been working well for some time (between 2 and
24hours), the rsync daemon crashes. It is still running but seems to
retry something
