rpcclient setdriver fails: WERR_INVALID_PRINTER_NAME
Hi all, I have a similar problem as Patrik yesterday. So I can copy some lines, but not all. We have an SuSE 8.1 machine who acts as an printserver. I'm sharing printers via Samba and using CUPS. Samba is 2.2.7a and CUPS 1.1.8. The Microsoft clients (Win9x, Win NT, Win 2k) is downloading the driver from the server. I had no problem to install and upload up to 2 printers but now I am not

Hi all, I'm trying to add printers with cupsaddsmb on Samba 3.0.20 (Mandrake Linux) with an LDAP backend. I've followed the howto on the samba page and have the error: result was WERR_INVALID_PRINTER_NAME generated when I run it. So far I've Googled for the solution but nothing listed has helped. Samba + CUPS error
Hello. I've been trying to set CentOS 3.1 as a print server for PC running NT4 using Samba + CUPS. I've successfully done this with Fedora Core 1 but have encountered the following error after running cupsaddsmb in CentOS 3.1: WERR_INVALID_PRINTER_NAME. This error also occurs with FC1, but is solved by restarting the smb service i.e. service smb restart. Run cupsaddsmb again after

Printers don't stick
Hi, Having a weird problem here. We've got Sambe 3.0.14a and cups 1.1.23 on a Debian system. I've run: cupsaddsmb -U RALPH\\jgoerzen -a -v Where RALPH is our PDC (and it also the machine I'm running this command on). The entire command *appears* to work, but: * None of the tdb files in /var/lib/samba, including ntforms.tdb, ntprinters.tdb, etc. have their date stamp updated.

Adding a cups printer driver
Hello, I have desperately tried to make samba able to share the printer with a Win98SE client. First I tried cupsaddsmb, but that failed. Then I walked step by step through the installation manually as explained in the documentation, and everything stopped on this point: rpcclient -Uroot%xxxx -c 'adddriver "Windows NT x86"\

I have followed the instructions from both the Cups and Samba websites to set up downloading of the

Samba ignores printer options when printing via CUPS
Hi all, I'm having a few problems getting samba to pass along settings for various print options for all of our printers. Printers are set up using PPDs in CUPS, added to samba via the cupsaddsmb command and then added to windows clients via point and print. Unfortunately any print jobs sent from windows appear to completely ignore many of the CUPS settings such as duplex and print

CUPS removal of cupsaddsmb
Hi All, I was recently directed to look at some upstream CUPS changes which impact Samba's printer server functionality: cupsaddsmb has been dropped via https://github.com/apple/cups/commit/f1def5b85f51120f5dc1eb21e1f38860ef41be9c Given that it's only just gone in, I wouldn't expect it to reach distros for some time, but I think it's worth discussing how/whether we should react.

Adding Printer Drivers from Windows XP
I am having trouble trying to add printer drivers from Windows XP. I'm running SAMBA 2.2.7a on SUSE 7.2. As best I can determine, the problem relates to permissions - Windows doesn't seem to be able to write the files to the printer driver directory on the server. Yet, I can set up an ordinary file share to that same directory and logged on as the same user, I can read and write the
