groupmap trouble
hi, i'm moving from nt4 to samba ( 3.0.7 on suse 9.2). I'm able to join the domain, and roaming profiles work. I used net groupmap to map unix to nt group, this way: System Operators (S-1-5-32-549) -> -1 Domain Guests (S-1-5-21-2839205766-3667556824-2828225164-514) -> nobody Replicators (S-1-5-32-552) -> -1 Guests (S-1-5-32-546) -> ntguests Power Users (S-1-5-32-547)

mapping well known groups problem (net groupmap)
Hi I have samba 3.0.14a (debian/stable) and wonder where the problem is that running this command: # net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=ntadmins rid=512 type=d gives: adding entry for group Domain Admins failed! but (note changed rid) # net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=ntadmins rid=1000 type=d works fine. Hm, winbind is not working, but I

Q about net groupmap examples on samba.org
Considering the following page... http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/man/guide/small.html First of, my compliments to John for some great examples to study. In my mind I see three levels of security: 1) Linux - such as SSH'ing into the Linux server, Linux accounts and groups come into play here 2) Samba PDC - "Domain Admins" "Domain Users" come into play here. Fwd: Net groupmap list puzzler
Hi, I think at first you have to do a net groupmap add all the well known Groups. System Operators (S-1-5-32-549) -> -1 Replicators (S-1-5-32-552) -> -1 Guests (S-1-5-32-546) -> -1 Domain Users (S-1-5-21-3732367786-856876144-3282938955-513) -> -1 Domain Admins (S-1-5-21-3732367786-856876144-3282938955-512) -> -1 Power Users (S-1-5-32-547) -> -1 Domain Guests

R installation - WINDOWS - problem
Dear R mailing group, I am having extreme - and mysterious - trouble installing R. I tried simply dl ing R-2.3.1.tar.gz, and unzipping it, but after doing so, nowhere could I find a file called R-2.3.1.exe. I did however find an R-2.3.1.exe.manifest. I therefore tried the command line installation command - given in R-admin.pdf. This command is: tar zxvf R-2.3.1.tgz This is strange

can redhat kernel source be patched?
I desperately need the ability to quickly recover from a power loss so I am finally going to break down and spend some time with ext3. I dl'ed the ext3-0.0.6b.tar.gz and unzipped it in /usr/src. Then I installed kernel-source-2.2.19-6.2.1.i386.rpm from redhat I then treid to apply the patches: cat ../ext3-0.0.6b/linux-2.2.19pre14.kdb.diff | patch -sp1 cat

ogg123 compile error fix
Linking libvorbis.a and vorbisfile.a in the opposite order corrected a linker error in ogg123. (dont ask me why.. Im not a genius - in fact, you could ask Monty...) I am just about to commit the fix as follows: vorbis-tools/Makefile.in : -LIBS=@LIBS@ ../lib/libvorbis.a ../lib/vorbisfile.a +LIBS=@LIBS@ ../lib/vorbisfile.a ../lib/libvorbis.a Michael Beattie

Problems with redirect
Hi, In my home page, the user can search for an item and if he likes he can add it to his favorites. If the user is logged in already then this works fine. But if the user is not logged in then he is redirected to the "login" page and then redirected to the "create fav" action. But in this scenario when I redirect, the message is redirected as a "GET" rather than a

newbie questions
I wish to add flac support to my Windows audio player so I wanted to ask a few questions. I rely on another lib for decoding/playing flac audio files so all I need to explicitly add support for is reading/writing flac metadata. 1st: I've downloaded libflac and have begun browsing. Is there a simple way to identify and carve out the pieces needed only for metadata i/o? Or will I have to

Unable to get groupmap to work with LDAP
I believe I have everything setup correctly on my RH9 server running Samba 3.0.3.rc1 and openLDAP 2.1.22. I can join computers to the domain and authenticate to the domain without any problems. What I am having problems with is trying to do a group map so Domain Admins have administrative rights on the workstation when they login. I can get this to work on non LDAP setups by issuing net

ext3 kernel 2.4.13
Hello everyone, I'm new to the list and I hope I'm not repeating something that was already asked for. We are pleased to announce that the development of the notorious "Method for Object Recognition of Obscure Nature" (or Moron, for short) has been switched to the R language.
