Samba PDC and Automatic Printer Install
Hello,
I am trying to install automatic printer driver download and install.
I am running Samba 3, as a PDC, on RedHat 7.3.
It seems everything is setup correctly, although I cannot get the rpcclient
to 'see' my printer.
Please notice these two printers listed below ar the same (lp & HP2300).

downloading printer drivers from W98 client
Hi
I've got some problems with the download of Adobe PostScript printer
drivers on a Windows 98 client :
On the server side (Red Hat 9 / Samba 3.0.1 / Cups 1.1.17) :
I installed succesfully my printers with Cups and they work fine on Linux
I ran cupsaddsmb tool to copy the Adobe files in the [print$] directory
which gives this result :
...../W32X86/2 : cupsdrvr.dll cups.hlp

HP LaserJet printing problems
Hi, I have some problems printing to a HP LaserJet 2300 and 4200,
everything prints fine but I can't send more than 1 copy to the printer.
I installed the printer on a local WinXP box with the HP installation CD
and it worked fine but through Samba I can't print more than one copy.
We have some other HP printers, a LaserJet 2200 and 4550
and they both work fine. It's like I can't

FW: Point and Print
As an updatee to my last post, things are still not working! The drivers
did get added but I'm still not sure whether I achieved this via the Add
Printer Wizard or despite error messages the rpcclient adddriver did
work. I did wonder if the lsa_io_sec_qos: length c does not match size 8
error is because the printer name is too long, especially as when I
tried a shorter name such as HP2300 -

[PATCH] Unreliable network connections with 3.0.1 - need advice
Hi
I saw your post about bug in Samba 3.0.1:
Quote:
????A lot of people have complained about unreliable connections to W2K
and XP machines. The folowing patch solved the problems for us. I have
no idea why it works, but after this patch we had no more problems
connecting to workstations in the domain.

Printer comments and other weirdness
Am running Samba 3.0.20 on SuSE 10.0 and cups as my printer provider. I've
used the cups gui to create a number of printers. They appeared correctly in
my Printers and Faxes folder in Explorer and I uploaded my print drivers
successfully. Now, a few days later, I'm looking at my printers and I notice
that the comments that show up on the print shares themselves still reflect
some old data

Serious bug in Samba 3.0.2pre1 !!!
Summarization of the bug in Samba 3.0.2pre1:
It seems that an ADS group is not valid or detected anymore to access a
samba share, in case only an ADS group is used a valid user on a Samba
share, because Kerberos is reporting: Username (null) is invalid on this
system.
Besides that, connecting to a share (service) reports with Samba 3.0.0-2
REALM\username (NH-TEST.NL\fo6), but with Samba 3.0.2pre1

samba printer share
Hello, dear colleagues using SAMBA.
Who could possibly tell me what I am missing in order to make my SAMBA printer
share visible on the windows network( i.e., accessing it from a MS Windows
machine's explorer, for example )?
It is SAMBA 3.0.23 on Linux 2.4.33 machine(originally RedHat 7.3. based, but
so much upgraded, even to GLIBC-2.3.6).
here are the linked libraries:

samba printing with cups driver and cups with non PS printers
Hello,
I just finished to read chapter 22 of the samba howto.
This chapter explains very well how printing from a win client via samba
and cups work.
If I understood it right, printing a file from windows to a non
postscript printer via cups driver, samba an cups works like this:
- application prints generating an EMF file ( windows spooler )
- the cups ( or adobe ) printer driver converts

smbldap-tools 8.3 populate errors
I downloaded the new 8.3 (tgz format) ldap-tools from IDEALX today. When I
run the smbldap-populate script I receive an error that it cannot find the
smbldap_tools.pm file. This file was not included in the tar file. If I
use the tools file from the samba 3.0.2pre1 distribution it is then expecting
the old smbldap_conf.pm file which has now been split in favor of the
/etc/smbldap-tools config. I

Linux ps reports mongrel as [ruby18]
I''m running two sets of mongrels using mongrel 1.1.4, one for production
one for staging. When executing ''ps'' from a linux shell, the production
mongrels report as expected, however the staging processes are listed as
[ruby 18]. The result seems to be that mongrel_rails cannot stop the
staging processes because it doesn''t recognize [ruby18] as a mongrel

multiple graphs in the same ps file ?
Dear all,
I would like to be able to store multiple graphs in one ps or pdf file, but
I cannot achieve this only if I don't shut the "postscript" device between
the graphs.
here is what I managed to do :
> postscript(file="test_graph.eps", onefile=TRUE)
> plot(1:10)
> plot(1:20)

> dev.off()

Plots default to Rplots.ps
Dear All,
Hello I'm a newbie to the list. I recently installed R on a Redhat 9.0
system, when I come to plot anything it does not bring up a graphics
window but rather stores it in a file "Rplots.ps". I tried x11() but
that doesn't bring up a window either. I would greatly appreciate any
advice.
