smbclient ls error: NT_STATUS_PATH_NOT_COVERED (user permissions are okay)
Hi everyone:
I'll try to be both succinct and accurate here:
Attempting to get a directory listing from a DFS export fails using
"Samba 3.0", but works fine on windows (XP, 2K, NT4).
This happens via smbclient and via "smbmount"ed
directories. I had no problem joining this domain, and the user that
I am connecting as has permissions to open these folders (I checked

Re: smbclient ls error: NT_STATUS_PATH_NOT_COVERED
Hi everyone:
I'd appreciate any help here... Using smbclient I can change into a
directory within a DFS share, but when I attempt to list it's contents,
I receive the subject error. I can view the directory (folder) from a
win client using the same credentials.
I already posted much of my configuration, sans the "smb.conf", although
if anyone suspects that there are

no mapping between account names and security ids was done
I use a openLDAP database for authentication on my Redhat 7.2 server. The
domain is "HOME". I have had no problem adding trust accounts and
authenticating against it.
Today I had to change the name of my Win2K workstation from poseiden to
poseiden1 for compatibility with a package I am testing. Once I changed it
and put in a new trust account, I could not rejoin the domain.
I gave up and

Revisiting slow explorer.exe connections
Hi:
I recently encountered a problem reading directories via an XP Pro
client shared from a samba server (redhat's rpm samba-2.2.7-5.8.0). File
listing was sometimes VERRRY slow. It was not a DNS issue in this case.
The symptoms, and my fix is below, but I wanted to ask, is there a way
to deal with this from the server? (I dunno- like redirecting port 80 or
something).

passwords
could someone please give me the lowdown on samba and passwords? i keep
trying to connect to any share name on either of my unix boxes, either
from each other or from a win95 machine... every time i can't get
anything due to passwords... does samba have it's own password file?
from trial-and-error it seems that it doesn't read out your /etc/passwd
file for user's home dirs...

net ads testjoin OK, net rpc testjoin fails
Hello (again) all!
After successfully joining my Debian Jessie box to my Server 2012R2-based domain as a domain member, I've run into another snag. The installation worked successful for a couple days as a file server, and then after a while I stopped being able to access the file server. After trying various trouble-shooting steps (including nuking the samba and winbind installations and

"net rpc testjoin falils" and after few second OK!!
Hi All,
Does anyone has an idea why sometimes when I issue "net rpc testjoin"
right after I joined the domain using ("net ads join") I get an error :
"Error in domain join verification (fresh connection)"
But after waiting few seconds, testjoin is succeed like a Swiss watch.
Its only happens when I join as ADS and only to one of my windows 2003

net ads testjoin without asking for password
Hello all,
is it possible to execute "net ads testjoin" without net asking for a
password (in any circumstance)? The reason for my question is that I
want to use it in a script and thus won't be able to supply a password
to net (net does not ask for a password on stdin).
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this for me!

net ads testjoin
Hello all,
I am new to this list and hopefully I am at the right place. Firstly,
thanks to everyone involved in this project. You do a great job!
Now, I use "net" to join Windows AD domains and was wondering where I
can find out more information on what happens during a "net ads
testjoin". The information I found on the documentation pages of net
or smb.conf on the website

Domain join OK, but testjoin not and authentications not working.
Dear all,
This is now for weeks that I try to get samba working again. This is
urgent as all users profiles are on this server.
Everything was working well, until we got Welchia Virus. We removed the
virus, and updated our servers to SP3 + Windows2000-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe
patch.
I removed the SP and the Patch, but I'm still unable to correctly join
the domain.
I upgraded to Samba 3.0.1

testjoin happy but kerberos broken
Hi there
I've got a problem CentOS-4.9 Samba server that we have never been able
to join to an existing Win2K3/Win2K8 AD domain correctly. We have before
and since installed Samba successfully on other sites btw. We actually
have 55+ CentOs-4.9 Samba servers world-wide with identical configs -
there's something about this one.
Anyway, "net ads join -Uadmininstrator...." works

[Solaris 9][ads] net ads testjoin error
Hello folks,
I have been able to successfully compile (MIT) kerberos (1.5.4) and
samba (3.0.28a) on a Solaris 9 (Kernel version: SunOS 5.9 Generic
122300-31 Aug 2008) host.
I was able to successfully join this host to a DEVDOMAIN
This is the smb.conf file that I used:

global settings
