git pull (12/3/2013) success on FreeBSD 9.2 STABLE 64 bit
Hi, Samba team!
I upgrade my Perl from 5.14 to 5.18 and deinstalled
/usr/ports/devel/libinotify and talloc and did a

Then make and make install successfully.

mpd VPN won't work after upgrade from 4.6-STABLE to 4.8-STABLE
I upgraded a week ago from 4.6-STABLE to 4.8-STABLE, and subsequently
my mpd-based VPN ceased to function, giving me all kinds of "protocol
rejected" messages. I haven't seen any such reports lately on this
list or questions about it on freebsd-questions, so I'm wondering what
it's related to. I can provide more details on request, but I first
wanted to see if anyone knows

FreeBSD 6.3-stable and if_re - stability problems?
Hello!
Is anybody having stability problems with if_re under FreeBSD
6.3-stable?
I know about PR kern/118719[1] but it doesn't look like the problem I'm
having - at least my machine doesn't panic.
My machine[2] runs FreeBSD 6.3-stable / amd64:

weird printing with samba 2.2.4 problems under FreeBSD 4.6-STABLE
Hello.
I have a simple samba 2.2.4 setup here under FreeBSD 4.6-STABLE: I want to
share my printer through samba to other windows clients on my LAN. I already
have this working perfectly under Linux on the same machine, however the
freebsd port or package seem to not work.
- the printer is correctly set up with LPRng (lpr <file> prints file
correctly). However when I connect to the

FREEBSD 7.1-STABLE crashes when trying to mount USB device of solaris UFS filesystem
Hi everybody,
today I met the following problems on my freebsd box. I had a USB stick
of opensolaris bootable USB image and tried to mount it on my fbsd box.
The first time, when I tried to mount the usb device, my system freezed
and then rebooted giving me one core in my dumpdev. When I tried to redo
the mounting, the kernel informed me that the filesystem needed to be
fsck'd before

Installing FreeBSD-Stable and Upgrading to FreeBSD-Stable
I am a newbie trying to get the most current Stable version of FreeBSD
running. I have been using CVS to update my system, but things don't work
after an update. For example KDE 3.1 (from KDE 3.0) doesn't start using
startkde.
I am looking for instructions on the best way to Install the lastest
version of FreeBSD-Stable and how to Upgrade the system in the future.
Thanks.

my scala markdown implementation
Hi,
I have written my own implementation of markdown in Scala. I only later
realized there is already one
( <http://tristanhunt.com/projects/knockoff/> ), but I put quite some
work into mine and I think it is never bad to have alternatives, so I
wanted to release it anyway. I want to use the same BSD License as the
original markdown, but before I put it out into the wild I wanted to ask

freebsd-stable Digest, Vol 515, Issue 6
Folks,
Hate to follow myself up, but - on the one 9.1-STABLE machine where
the disk i/o bogging down issue was a showstopper, I fixed it by
reverting to 8.4-STABLE. Symptoms instantly went away, box became
performant and responsive.
regards,
Ross

Hang on boot with 4.9-STABLE
Yet another hang on boot issue wqith 4.9. I havn't seen anything the
same go through the list and I've searched the archives but not found
anything appropriate.
Box that has been rock solid under 4.8-P3, took it to 4.9-R and
4.9-STABLE (as of today) and it hangs on boot after the apm0
line. It's doing SMP and the motherboard has hyperthreading enabled.
It won't break out to the

Tracking 4-stable rather than 4.8-stable
Hi,
I would like to follow 4-stable on my FreeBSD box, and i can't fetch
binaries from /stand/sysinstall. Can anyone help me?
Here is how i did:
1) I installed 4.8-RELEASE from CD,
2) I used cvsup to upgrade. For this i used the stable-supfile as shown
in the Handbook.
=> My OS version as shown by 'uname -a' and '/stand/sysinstall' is
"4.8-STABLE".

Updating from 4.8 release to 4.8 stable
Hello,
I am very new to FreeBSD and just installed 4.8 release. I want to upgrade this to stable. I have printed some of the pages out for makeworld and CVSUP, I am wondering what the best method for doing the updates are, downloading the individual packages and installing or using the CVSUP to do this? Currently I used mostly Red Hat Linux but have wanted to give this a try for some time

5.x discussions should migrate to freebsd-stable
All,
Now that 5.3 is about to be released (really, I mean it this time!) and
5.x is considered -STABLE, further 5.x discussions and bug reports
should migrate over to the freebsd-stable mailing list. I know that
after 4+ years, there is probably a lot of sentimental attachment to
freebsd-current, and some of you probably have never seen a branch go
stable yet, but just like watching your kids

FreeBSD STABLE support for new motherboards
During the last two weeks there has been some discussion in
freebsd-questions and freebsd-stable about the prospects of FreeBSD
support for some motherboard devices associated with the Intel
865PE/875P and ICH5/ICH5R support chips now showing up in recent
motherboard designs. The 865PE/875P chips are called MCH (memory
controller hub) or "northbridge" chips. The ICH5/ICH5R chips are
