Samba4 - mapping Network Drives based on Group membership
Hi All I have a problem running a logon script to map network drives based on Group Membership. The script is a VBScript that resides in the netlogon share. It Works just fine when the logged in user is a Domain Admin but fails to get the Group information when logged in as a regular user. For example when I login as administrator who is a member of every Group (For test only all the requested

netlogon script generation
Can anyone point me to a doc or a script that shows how to generate netlogon script on the fly and supports users having multiple groups? I tried the Perl script referenced at <http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/man/AdvancedNetworkManagement.html> but I believe it only supports the user being a member of one group. -- Andrew Gaffney

Problems with ADS membership with win2k domain
I'm having problems with ADS membership for samba. I had a "mostly" working version with RHES v2.1, krb5 v1.2, samba v3.0.5. I knew to get to a fully functioning version I would need krb5 v1.3 or later. So finally I had an opertunity to junk RH's crufty krb5 and build from scratch with: RHES v2.1 MIT krb5 v1.4 samba v3.0.13 This works fine on another server. Now to the

winbind name service required for active directory (ADS) authentication and group-based authorization?
Hello Samba Gurus, Is using the winbind name service required in order to get authentication AND authorization via ADS? I'll explain further. Goal: create samba share for which clients are authenticated via native ADS and access is based on ADS group membership. I've actually done this in the old Windows NT world. Worked okay. It's wasn't too hard, except for the winbind

winbindd 4.1.7 resolves group memberships for all but primary group
We're using a bunch of AD groups ? all users/groups are created and managed with ADUC. Domain Users is the primary group for all users, plus a few for our departments (and Domain Admins). All groups have their posixGroup attributes filled out. wbinfo --group-info and getent group show the correct membership for all groups except Domain Users. smb.conf: http://pastebin.com/ymrXZJ5u Already

group mapping question
Hi All, Just a general question about groups. I am upgrading a Samba workgroup, server to a PDC. I have been reading: http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/groupmapping.html#id2589321 In this link, they tell of how to map a windows group to a Samba group net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=domadm rid=512 type=d Question 1: if my previous

time based group membership in FL 2016
Hi all, it's again a question about FL 2016 and if samba supports it. If yes, how can I use it without powershell. In FL 2016 there is the possibility to put a user into a group and the membership is time based. So I could put the user Foo into the group 'domain admins' for 30 minutes and after 30 minutes the system will remove user foo from the group. But to activated this

new standardised variable based on group membership
Hi I have a data comprised of repeated measures of growth (5-15 records per individual) for 580 fish (similar to Orange dataset from nlme library). I would like to standardise these growth measures (yi – ŷ/sd) using mean and standard deviation unique to each fish. Can someone suggest a function that would help me do this? I’ve had a look at scale and sweep but can’t find a worked example that does

Domain-member and simple read and readwrite file-permissions based on group-membership
Hi, I'm pretty confused about using samba as domain-member and file-server. Assuming i have a couple of windows-users on my active directory server and there are mainly 2 groups defined in the AD: ReadOnlyGroup and WriteOnlyGroup. On my samba-server there is one share which should be used by both groups and i want users in the WriteOnlyGroup to have the permission to modify/ delete all

random section of samples based on group membership
Hi all, I have a matrix of 474 rows (samples) with 565 columns (variables). each of the 474 samples belong to one of 120 groups, with the groupings as a column in the above matrix. For example, the group column would be: 1 1 1 2 2 2 . . . 120 120 I want to randomly select one from each group. Not all the groups have the same number of samples, some have 4, some 3 etc. Is there a function to

3.0 beta 3 - NT and Unix group mapping
Hello everyone! I've been testing the 3.0 beta 3 (I've just upgraded from 2.2.7), and made a PDC configuration with Windows XP Pro clients. Everything works fine, however, I'm fine tuning the NT and Unix group mapping; in particular, I want to map the Unix group 'users' to the NT group 'Power Users'. I've tried: net groupmap modify ntgroup="Power Users"

Best way to do logins by group?
Hello! I'm setting up a fileserver, running RedHat and Samba 2.0.6. This server will support about 80 people in several different departments, who all work under the same main unit. Each of the smaller departments has different requirements as far as shared resources. So what I'd like to do is create a login.bat for each department, and have Samba use it based on the group membership

How do I apply active directory group policies to samba shares
Hi, We would like to aggregate departmental servers on to a single samba share called "departments" and under departments would be a set of folders corresponding to the departments. Permissions need to be controlled by group memberships in active directory. When I go into folder properties on an XP with the departments share mounted, under the security tab I see Administrators,
