Help pls. -- Samba permission question

delivering mail to public mbox with permission 660?
I am migrating a couple old RH servers running sendmail and UW-IMAP to a new Ubuntu 10.04 servers running Postfix and Dovecot. I have everything working reasonably well except that the permissions of newly created mbox mail folders is always 600. I have reviewed the archives, google, and double checked everything is as suggested in the Dovecot Wiki / SharedMailboxes / Permissions. I am

Kerberos authentication sigsegvs
Hi I'm having major problems setting up Samba 3.0.9 with kerberos authentication. I have also tried with 3.0.8(from Debian SID) with same result. smb.conf[1] has 'security = ads' , and 'use kerberos keytab = yes'. I have set up pam_krb5 and I get TGTs that works with my ssh servers. But, when I try to authenticate using smbclient -k -L server I get: "session setup failed:

samba caching group memberships
Hi all, our setup is Samba 3.3 in W2K8 domain. It seems samba cache group memberships somewhere and after adding user to a new group it's necessary to relogin for that user to get new memberships. Is it possible to eliminate that nasty procedure? Thanks. -- Vladimir Vassiliev

Question - Does Samba Recognize non-Primary Group Memberships?
I thought this was true, but In troubleshooting a permissions related issue, I see evidence that it is not. In my previous post, I was asking for assistance in trying to figure out why I was unable to create files/folders over the network, but could so so locally. My Active Directory account is a member of group that have full control of a particular folder according to getfacl. I added that

Strange Behavior with Read Only files 3.0.20b
I haven't had a chance to look at the list very carefully for the past few weeks, so I apologize in advance if I'm asking a question that has recently been discussed. I seem to recall there has been some discussion about a similar situation to the one I am in. My situation is that I am having an issue with READ ONLY files -- and seeing very different behavior with Samba 3.0.20b

Group memberships on Linux AD Member (syncing randomly)
Hi, I'm running Samba Active Directory 4.16.9 with packages from Sernet. Domain members are Linux servers (Ubuntu 20.04, RHEL 8) with Sernet Samba 4.16.x. I'm getting crazy with group memberships syncing from AD to Linux members. It is completely random as when changes in AD group are visible in Linux OS (or more precise: winbind), it might take minutes, hours or days as when these

directory mask = 2770
Hello everyone. I am using Samba 2.0.7 on a RedHat 6.2 machine. I wanted to apply a directory mask of 2770 to everything created in a share. The root directory of this share already has these permissions. I want to have it so that everything created in a certain directory has the permissions of the group of the creator. As it stands, I do have the directory mask = 2770 line in the smb.conf

Classic Upgrade: Unable to enumerate group memberships
Hello. I'm using Version 4.0.8-SerNet-Ubuntu-5.precise (Also, a heads up on this release; the folder /var/run/samba must be created upon reboot. When starting Samba I get this error: ERROR: can't open /var/run/samba/samba.pid: Error was No such file or directory) So anyway, when trying to do a classic upgrade/migration in order to preserve authentication information on a new domain.
