Connection reset by peer
Hi, We continuously see these errors in our logs. I've done some searches on this but nothing seems to point to anything specific. Corrupted raid-z pool
I''ve been fighting with this raid-z on pool for almost a year now on FreeBSD. Earlier this week I managed to mount it with one corrupted/offline disk. I tried to wipe the disk, and ended up settling with using gpart to make a new partition on it. It resilvered partially, but when I attempted to clear errors (that had been present since I last tried getting the pool to work) it restarted

Menu examples?
Hi all, I'm looking for some menu examples for Murali's menu system. Specifically, a headstart on creating a Kickstart menu which covers the most common options with the intention of creating this: label ks.menu kernel vmlinuz.ks.$DIST append ksdevice=eth0 ks=http://kickstartserver/$DIST/Custom/ks.cfg.$DIST initrd=initrd.ks.$DIST lang= devfs=nomount ramdisk_size=8192 Hmm...looking

Re: tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD - fixed
Thank you. Thank you, Michael. I saved smb.con, smbpasswd, and smbusers. I stopped smb. I deleted the three samba packages from the system. I re-installed the three samba packages (2nd cd of the set) I moved my configuration files back in /etc/samba I started smb and everything works. >On 2002-06-11, Margaret Doll wrote: > >MD> > Do you have a file unexpected.tdb in

How do you set the encoder bit reservoir size?
Hi; In the Vorbis 1.1 release notes from July 7, 2004, Monty says "The 1.1 libvorbisenc allows setting the fixed reservoir size (in bits, defaulting to two seconds worth of requested bitrate) and 'hoarding' behavior (whether the encoder tends to keep the bit reservoir more full or more empty) as well as the other encoding heuristics available through the API of 1.0.1."

smbd hung processes - Samba 3.0.7
We've seen Samba crash and burn twice in the last 48 hours - it just started happening, and we have no idea what might be causing it. I'm hoping that someone will recognize this problem. Platform: we are running RedHat Enterprise Server, with Samba 3.0.7. We're using security=domain in an old-style NT4 domain environment. The symptom that we're seeing is that the number of

Huge amount of used inode handlers reported by sar -v (inode-sz)
Any help with this problem would be very much appreciated (even "it's not 7.3 or ext3 pointers, look somewhere else"). I've seen a similar post to ext3-users, but since that one received no reply and I'm not convinced it's a ext3 problem (it only appears on our 7.3 hosts) , I'm CCing to the valhalla list. We have the same problem on ALL our Redhat 7.3 machines

mkstemp <filename> failed
I'm not really what you would call a linux newbie, but I managed to run into a problem with rsync that has me stumped. I want to conduct un-attended backups of various files and directories over about 3000 miles of Internet, so I chose sshd and rsync for the job. I wrote a pair of scripts to do the job, the first to run incremental tars on the localhost, the second to run the rsync client.

autosign issues
Hi folks Back again with another head-scratcher... I''m trying to get autosigning to work, and am partially succeeding, but not really... Running puppet v24.4, and not yet ready to upgrade unless I have to On puppetmaster, I have autosign.conf (and puppet.conf indicates autosign = /etc/puppet/autosign.conf, which should be redundant, but, covering that base as I can) In autosign.conf,

making Samba works together with PAM
Ok fellows, This is my last try. Please, anybody tell me if something is missing on this list! I need to setup on a Linux + Samba (PDC) to restrict just one login per ID (not allow two logins with same id).So: 1 - edit /etc/pam.d/samba -> chaging session line with session required /lib/security/pam_limits.so 2 - in /etc/security/limits.conf: * - maxlogins 1 3 - in smb.conf:

Replication Slave is not auto-creating domain/user folders
Hey all, I'm experiencing a weird and annoying issue with my 2-node dovecot replication setup. The setup is based on virtual users in a pgsql database, which is replicated from the master to a slave node. For the mails I rely on the dovecot builtin replication which has been working great for me thus far. However I noticed something was off when looking through my journal yesterday:

exit status 12 with large files
Hello. I use rsync version 2.4.6, protocol version 24 on a RH7.2 machine. The purpose is mirroring a Red Hat repository. All works fine, *except* for really big files. ISO images (~650MB) are a good example. Whenever I don't exclude *.iso, I get the following: ================================================================== receiving file list ... done sending sums for 1408

Difficulty converting from RH 7.3 to Debian Sarge
I am running debian sarge 2.4.27-3-686 and samba version 3.0.14a-Debian . The previous machine was running rh 7.3 (valhalla) 2.4.20-29.7.progeny.11, samba version unknown. I have restored all shares and directories. Most of users can access everything, however our login script will not run. For those users that cannot log in re-joining them to the domain not only works but then the login

I have been ready everything I can regarding this setup but am having a problem that I am unsure of. I am unable to authenticate any user despite the following commands working: %> getent passwd <username> %> wbinfo -u %> wbinfo -g With the getent passwd I am able to see all of my UID/GID being mapped via winbdind to the rid of the domain user account. This command fails: %>

PROBLEM: new kernel 3.15.0-rc8 hangs completely with CONFIG_DRM_NOUVEAU enabled
First off, the current state of support for Maxwell (GM107/NV110) is not very useful to end-users. It's especially not useful if it's a 3d accelerator card without outputs (as yours appears to be), since acceleration is not supported in 3.15 out of the box. You'd have to figure out how to extract the context switching firmware from the blob driver and load it in nouveau. I'm told

Upgrade samba from 2.2.7 to 3.0.14a
I am trying to upgrade samba from 2.2.7-security-rollup-fix to 3.0.14a and am having some issues. The server is Red Hat Linux release 7.3 (Valhalla) with Kernel 2.4.18-3 I have download the samba source, compiled, and installed it, but none of my older files seem to be updated. I noticed that the new version is installed to /usr/local/samba but most of the old files are in /usr/bin (such as
