Printing woes in 2.2.3a, still
Greetings, All, To start off, I think everyone has done a WONDERFUL job with Samba, and I'd enjoy my job much less with out it. A remarkable effort from everyone that has contributed to the effort. Now I will contribute my printing problems. I have Samba 2.2.3a running on top of Sun Solaris 8 and I have been seeing a number of printing related problems. From what I am seeing on the

but I don't understand what to change and where to change it and how to change it, yet. Any documentation available specifically for rhl 7.2 and samba 2.2.3a would be especially welcome. All help is very welcome! Thanks, Kevin ----- Original Message ----- From: "Urban Widmark" <urban@teststation.com> To: "Kevin Bramblett" <kbramblett@dssresearch.com> Cc:

Printing problems with Samba 2.2.3a
Hi, I've been using Samba 2.0.5 successfully for a long time and am now trying to configure 2.2.3a under Debian GNU/Linux 3.0. I've succeeded with the exception of one printer share. What makes this frustrating is that the share is mostly functional, but I haven't been able to find my problem described anywhere else. We have two HP printers, a LaserJet 4000N and a LaserJet 5N,

occassionally : no domain controller available
I'm using samba 2.2.3a as fileserver and domaincontroller for 12 NT4-clients (sp6a) and occassionally - when a user tries to logon - there comes the following messages on the nt-client: - No Windows NT Domain Controller is available for domain XXXX. There are currently no logonservers available to service the logonrequest. - and - server-side profile not available. The OS tries to log you on

Samba domain users VS "rogue" NT servers.
Hi All, We're having some problems using Samba and supposedly "standalone" rogue NT servers on one of our network domains. When an authenticated samba-served NT domain user on a client machine tries to access a share on a non BDC/PDC NT server that it part of the same samba domain, the standalone NT server sends it a message saying "Your logon time at NTDOMAIN has

NT4 user can't change password during logon (but XP can)
When a password must be changed during logon (pdbedit <user> --pwd-must-change-time=0) then this is impossible on NT4 SP6a machines; we always get this error: "Unable to change the password on this account (C00000BE). Please consult your system administrator.". At that time we get these messages in log.smbd: <<<< log.smbd <<<< [Tue May 9 10:46:17 2006 ,

PDC disconnected until restart (NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVER - or so)
Hi, We experience an every-now-and-then problem with our samba PDC. For a couple of days or so, the PDC runs just fine. Then, one after another, the workstations (Win9x, NT4/SP6a, Win2000/SP3) complain about the PDC not being there and refuse to logon users (naturally). The only workstation that's still able to see and connect to the PDC is the one that's on the same broadcast domain. An

Samaba 2.2.7 and windows printer driver woes
Greetings, all, I have a fresh install of Samba 2.2.7 on a Solaris 9 machine. Stand alone, not part of a domain. Testing with a stand alone Windows 2000 professional client with service pack 3 installed. I am having problems setting defaults for the installed printer drivers and I have been unable to load Win98 drivers to go along with the W2k drivers. Printers being tested are an HP LJ

Strange printing issue in Samba 2.2.3a
Greetings, I'm seeing am odd printing problem on a Windows 2000 machine - the machine is NOT in the Samba controlled domain, but in a different "real" NT 4.0 controlled domain. The user on this machine is able to mount "shares" from my Samba servers, but since moving to 2.2.3a his is denied access to printers. Strange is he can access files on the same server that

Fwd: RE: Outlook.pst corrupt (Rashkae)
My problem is not the the restore or re-creataion of outlook.pst but is to understand why outlook.pst is corrupted when I open OUTLOOK-2000 or 98 ecc. I have this problem only when I use samba (2.2.5) on HP-UX 11. In other company I have server linux (RH 7.3) with samba and 20 PC that have all your files and mail-files (outlook ecc.) saved in share-directory in linux-server but in this

problems with msdfs
We did some tests with msdfs on HP/UX with samba version 2.2.1.a and we found a strange problem. We create a msdfs root on a HP/UX system with samba version 2.2.1.a and create a link in it to an HP/UX system with samba version 2.0.7. We mapped the link in the msdfs root on a NT4 system to drive F. The share contains the source of samba and in explorer we went to :

smbd daemon uses all filedescriptors
We are running samba on a number of HP systems running HP/UX 11.00. We moved from samba version 2.0.7. to samba version 2.2.3a. We have about 200-400 smbd's running on one host. Samba version 2.2.3a was running without any problems for about two weeks. But now on two different servers indepent of each other, the file table was full. We found out that ONE smbd used about 5000 !!

Newbie Configuration of 2.2.3a on HP-UX 11.0
I have installed Samba with a depot I downloaded from the HP-UX Porting and Archive Center. We have an intranet site on an HP-UX 11.0 box, and ultimately, my goal is to have links on the Web pages open up files (Word docs, etc.) on various Windows machines (XP, 2000, NT). I'm having difficulty getting Samba to work at all. I've scoured past newsgroup posts, and I'm not finding

instrumental variables regression using ivreg (AER) or tsls (sem)
Dear friends, I am trying to understand and implement instrumental variables regression using R. I found a small (simple) example here which purportedly illustrates the mechanics (using 2-stage least-squares): http://www.r-bloggers.com/a-simple-instrumental-variables-problem/ Basically, here are the R commands (reproducible example) from that site: # ------ begin R library(AER)

download.file() yields incomplete files with method="internal"
Dear all, as the bug # 7991 is flagged not-reproducible, let me give you some pieces of code, as I have the same or similar problem. The problem always shows up with the first example (a small text file) and only sometimes (but without obvious pattern) with the second example, which is a binary file. > download.file("ftp://ftp.nhc.noaa.gov/pub/atcf/btk/bal012006.dat",
