adding printers from netlogon script
I don't know the final answer BUT if you have something simmilar to a
cyber-cafe LAN (I mean, users use all the computers, and maybe some
users come back to login with the same name) then you have to install a
printer only once in a computer, loging as the administrator and
installing drivers. Then what users will have to do is JUST add the
printer without installing. I know that it's

Printer: User Intervention Required - Use Printer Offline
For some reason, I cannot get samba (or Win98, depending on how you look
at it...) to allow a win98 client to print.
I search the list archives, but I didn't find anything similar. So here
goes.
Symptoms:
- Win98 client can access fileshares OK. The printers show up OK as well
in network neighbourhood.
- On Linux, printing (lprng) works OK.
- In win98, e.g.

printing in dos slows
Hi,
I have an issue in dos printing. My okidata dot matrix printer is directly
connected to linux box and is a shared printer in samba . I am using lprng.
My problem is with dos printing. When i print, it spools first indicated in
the windows printer window. It takes a minute before it actually sends to
the linux box, you will see an indicator of spooled bytes. Once it is
submitted it prints

Cannot enable "Enable advanced printing features"
Hi all.
I'm trying to use Samba to replace an old Windows print server, and
everything works just like a charm - almost...
There's one thing, which prevents my organization from accepting this new
printerserver, and that is that I'm unable to activate and save the "Enable
advanced printing features" setting for the printers - this is used to allow
for printing multiple

adding printers from netlogon script
While this doesn't relate specifically to Samba, I need to do this in a netlogon .bat file
in a Samba domain. In my network, I have a printer hooked to a JetDirect so that it is a
TCP/IP printer. Is there a way I can automatically have this printer mapped/added when the
user is logged on?

Hi there
Looking at the archives I didn't find a solution to the following problem
we have here:
Printing from our linux-server (wagner) to an intel printserver (PS652D8F)

Win 9x printer problem
I am continuing to struggle with a strange SAMBA Printing problem. Here
are the details:
1) NT based clients can log on as guests or as users and can print in
either case with no problems.
2) Windows 9x clients can log in as either guest or as users and can access
shares with no problems.
3) Windows 9x clients attempting to print directly to the SAMBA printer
hang the print process and

'system error 5 has occured' when mapping printer
Hi all,
I have had this issue for a really long time that I had a workaround
for, but this workaround
has caused more harm than good.
The issue is when mapping 'LPT1'
I know this is a local LPT port, etc and I know that non-administrators
cannot map this port.
The port is needed by a legacy application, and it cannot be changed
until this application goes the way of all things.
So,

adding LPT port to wine? Acrobat 5/PDFWriter installation problem
hi all,
I'm using the official wine-20041201-0.1 on Sue 9.1 (i386). I used
winetools 2.10 to facilitate my wine installation and it was a godsand. I
have installed Office 2000 and so far so good, but I like to extend my wine
functionality just a bit more.
I like to install Acrobat 5 (not reader) with PDFWriter on my wine
installation. The problem I have is that, during the

Printer Permissions Problem
I am unable to add drivers to network printer.
I am logged in as a user who is allowed to write to
those shares. But when ever I right click on the Properties
of the printer when viewing \\DC\Printers and Faxes\PrinterName,
Most of the tabs are disabled.
I was able to install the drivers some time ago. But not any more.
The more weird thing is that for some of the network printers,
the Ports tab

AW: Samba 2.2.8a :: High CPU usage and Printer
No, I don't.. I'm sorry I wasn't that clear in my last mail.
I'm running Samba only as file server. I haven't installed a
printer so far on Samba. The printers are installed on the
Windows 2000 server.
This server is a Domaincontroller, File- and Printerserver.
My problem is that any other pc has normal traffic rates
to the samba server, but the server is very slow.

Printer redirection of old DOS Software
On our old Novell-2.2 server we had a program called CAPTURE
to redirekt the printer output of DOS programs to the
network printer. (Some old DOS programs only know LPT1:)
Now i am locking for a CAPTURE replacement for our new Samba server.
I tested PRINDIR Version 9.0 and LPTTOFL Version 1.0 out of a
DOS-Box within WIN 3.11 and WIN 95.
Both programs work fine with pure DOS but have timing

Netlogon no longer works in 2.2.6 with W2k client
Hi,
We've got a fairly simple samba setup (no ldap/winbind etc) and until
recently everything worked fine (using samba-2.2.5). But after switching
to samba-2.2.6 w2k-clients fail to run the netlogon-scripts. When i look
at the client it says: logonserver=\\<workstationname>
BTW. The output of "nmblookup -S CPB" (to me) seems to say that CPB is
the logonserver.

Dummy Printing Round 2!
Hi,
I have posted this before, and was told to read the documentation (which I
already had in detail) since I have been looking everywhere (mainly google)
with no joy.
If possible I want to tell wine I have a printer installed (write to file
printer if possible) as I do not have a printer but have a windows
application that requires a printer to be installed to run, could anyone

network printing
Hello,
Hello,
I am running Samba version 2.2.8a, cups 1.1.19 and esp print pro version
4.3.1 on my server, which is running Slackware 9.1 and Canon BJC-85 USB
printer as default printer on the server and kernel 2.4.22
I can connect and print to the server using smbclient, but I cannot
figure out what to put in the CUPS configuration, or the
/etc/samba/smb.conf to print to this printer all
