Re: Your computer account was not found or the password was incorrect
Hey guys,
I'm trying to migrate my NT4 Domain and am having some problems.
Ignoring my other post related to this, I can't get any of my machines

"Your computer account was not found or the password is incorrect"
I even tried rejoining the domain which works. I leave the domain and
then rejoin it, it takes a LONG time (might just be

Unable to join to domain: The username could not be found. [solved]
Hi all,
it took me about two days to find a solution for this problem.
For me, the problem was that my samba server itself wasn't part of it's
own domain.
So what I had to do was:
# net rpc join -S <samba server name> -U root
From that moment on I was able to add windows machines to my domain
without problems.
Hopefully I could help some people.

I've asked this question before, and somebody helped me after
sending my logs. I thank them very much. I've solved these problems but
I still can't join the domain. I cannot see any major problem in the

To summarize the problem to first tmie readers; We have a windows

computer name instead of username?
Hi,
Since the "Failed to verify incoming ticket" problem on Samba3.0.1, I rolled
back to 3.0. All the authentication and connection jobs are done successfully
for 3.0, and this time clients able to browse to the Samba. However, I keep ask
for the username, password when I access to any of the shared folder. The log
of client shows:

How to: users print with their username, guests with guest account
Hi all,
In our setup we would like that all users with a valid account use
their username to print, while users with no account use the guest
account. How can we do that.
If we use:
[printers]
..
..
public = yes
guest account = nobody
..
..
then all users are printing on the guest account.
On the other hand, if we use
[printers]

Trying to access share on a workgroup computer locks domain account
Hi,
I'm having a strange problem.
I've setup a Samba server in Active Directory without any issues. I can get
the group and user list, add ACL to the shares, etc.
If I try to access the share from a windows machine on the same domain,
everything is fine.
But when I try to access the same share from a windows machine which is not
on the domain (it's in a workgroup, for example),

NT domain computer account
Hi list,
Curiosity killed the cat, but...
I've been reading samba sources and I can't quite figure out what
'features' of UNIX account is required for 'workstation account' (as in
NT domain).
The furthest I coud get to pin-point the requirements, is the pdbedit
source (source/utils/pdbedit.c), where we have two functions:
1) new_used(*context, *name, *full_name, *home,

Grant computer account access to share?
Hi,
I have a Microsoft application (SCCM) which I need to grant access to
a samba share, however the service which reads the files can only
authenticate using the computer account, there is option to configure
it to use a domain account.
Is there any way to grant a computer account access to a share? On
windows I can simply add computer$ to the permissions but this doesn't

I am using samba as a domain member for A W2K Domain. The purpose is

SUN NFS with kerberos in the same storage - but no sharing locks as
Veritas products offer ).
so I used the net command:

What's happend when the UID/SID mapping changes for a computer account ?
Hi,
Could you please tell me, what's happend when the UID/SID mapping
changes for a computer account ?
In my previous mail, I explain that suddenly every computers of my
domain was unable to connect to our samba logon server.
Before this problem, a 'net rpc vampire' was done to resynchronize the
samba ldap-sam with the NT4 PDC, and samba has been restarted, I suspect
that after

Computer Account
Hello,
Does samba-3.0.0beta-1 still requires a computer account to be present
inside OS user database? I had heard there were moves to make that
obsolete.

Error on joining domain - 'System computer account in its primary domain missing'
I'm running Samba 2.2.8a as a PDC on Red Hat 8, connecting to a Sun ONE
Directory Server on a separate Sun box.
Logging in locally allows me to access the appropriate shares and
authenticate against the LDAP directory. Accessing via smbclient works
fine.
I'm able to get my Windows 2000 client to join the domain. After giving
the root password there's a wait of around 45
