sum of child rates exceeds parent rate
Hi,
i have created a parent class with 45Meg rate/ceiling
Note : The actual traffic flowing via that pc is around 6Meg to 15Meg
I assume the problem will come only when the traffic is more than 45Meg.
Now if i create child classes whose sum of rates crosses more than 45Meg ?
1.How that tc behaves.
2.Will this affect browsing.
Pls let me know this details

It is even worse when such file is located in user profile, which makes
it impossible to save user profile to

Re: [R-SIG-Mac] Bug running pbinom() in R-GUI?
The real problem is that pbeta can take forever. That's bug #7153 and a fix is
within reach.

Instant Rails and your own applications
Hi,
I want to make an open source rails project as easy as possible to install.
Can I use Instant Rails for this? I treid to look at the FAQ but could not
see this was possible.
Ideally I would like to have Instant Rails install Ruby, Rails, MySql, etc
and then have it add my application and add the mysql user (could be just
root also) and then the sql for creating the tables.
Sound like fun

The "single WINS" problem
Everybody encourages Samba admins to enable WINS whenever possible, and
I agree that it helps a lot to solve these networks' problems. It's so
good that, when it fails, it's a disaster.
How are people coping with the samba limitation of not being able to
replicate the WINS database and thus its inability to have more than one
WINS server in a domain?

rsync for directory and files structures only
Hi all,
I am looking for to only sync directories and files structures only,
without coping any data within files...
Is there a switch/trick available for this in rsync?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Coping music from tapes
OS: CentOS 5.0 x86.
Hi, I have some old music tapes and a walkman, and want to move the
music to mp3 format. So far I am thinking to use Audacity to record the
music to wavs, and then do not know, somehow I will compress the wavs to
mp3s as vbr 192 Kbps with something.
Has anyone done this? What app did you use for recording the music from
the tapes and what app did you use to make it mp3?

Doco! ARGH! (smbpasswd's not up to date on the web site)
Hi all,
(again)
The page:-
http://ie.samba.org/samba/docs/man/smbpasswd.8.html
does not have any description of the '-j' option.
However:-
http://ie.samba.org/samba/ftp/docs/htmldocs/smbpasswd.8.html
does.
Why is this a big issue ? (worthof a post to the mailing list?)
because the first URL above is linked off the main 'Documentation' page
of the Samba web site

Incremental file updates over a network, NFS?
Hi list,
can anyone point me at some consise info on when rsync is capable of performing incremental updates
of binary files? I need to rsync over a network, and currently I have this over an NFS share but I suppose
that even if binary updates are possible there not going to do much good as reading the remote file over
NFS to check what needs to be updated will use the same bandwidth as copying

GlusterFS Fuse client hangs when coping large files
Hello,
I?m having some weird problems while coping large files (> 1GB) to a GlusterFS through a Fuse client.
When the copy is done using the cp command everything is fine, but if I use a Java program, the GlusterFS Fuse hangs.
The kern.log shows timeout for the Java program and the Fuse client.
Anyone have experienced this behavior?

md5 fail on large file
Hello everybody.
I'm experimenting this problem with samba 3.0.2a and linux 2.4.25 with ReiserFS.
When I copy (put) a large file (5GB) from a Windows NT terminal server sp6a to the samba-linux box, the md5sum is different between the two file. Files size are identical.
I'm using this command to copy these files from windows to samba:
xcopy f:\ \\mimas\backup\exchange /e /c /h /r
I have
