win2k dropping network connection to samba
Hello, I have a client that has a RedHat 8 box with samba 2.2.7 running as a basic file server. They have two win98 computers and 1 w2k pc. They have no problems accessing the files on the server from the win98 pc's but the win2k pc keeps dropping the connection... I would normally say... ok its some hardware problem with the win2k box... BUT if i copy files to and from shares on the win98

Trouble with asterisk-users mailman
I'm trying this again because the last attempt didn't go through (thus more or less proving one of the below to be true.) Unix password sync
Hi all, Sorry if this has been answered before, but I've searched Google and the archives and it hasn't revealed an answer to my problem. Basically I'm trying to get unix password sync to work so that users can change both their logon and other services (POP3 etc) passwords from within Windows. but the problem is that if I enable unix password sync, it fails with the error of:

Cannot get shares to show up
I apologize if this is a really silly question but I've been messing with this for awhile now and cannot see any typos that would prevent these shares from showing up. I'm trying two things I've never done before so I want to make sure to point them out: 1) I am using groups in the "valid users" section 2) I am using preexec and postexec on each share Example: [Media]

PoE switch recommendations?
Hey, all. We're rolling out VoIP, and I'm wondering about PoE recommendations, as we're going to have to replace our current network equipment. My first inclination would be to just plunk down the cash and do a Cisco system, but I'm relatively certain that would get shot down by finance. Any recommendations for a couple-hundred-port solution with VLANs, PoE, and QoS? Don't

Windows closing just be mouse movement
Sorry, a bit clueless here: My father has Quicken 2003 running on Wine (1.01 I believe, but I'm not sure how to check) with Ubuntu 9.04. Unfortunately, I'm "tech support" but my only access is via remote desktop and ssh and I don't use wine myself. Quicken starts fine, but, for example, when he tries to open a report he will get a new window opened and as soon as he moves

Integrating Samba into a Database and configured for OpenVPN
Hi All, This is my first post and I am relatively new with Linux. I am attempting to do three things and I'm hoping for advice: 1) Intergrate Samba fully with MySQL (unless another database would be considered better for this task). One of the things I've always had trouble with Linux is that everything is seperate. I understand that provides flexibility but I would like to

--compare-dest apparently incompatible with --checksum or --size-only
I am working with rsync on Debian, package version 3.0.9-1. I am trying to use rsync --compare-dest to make a delta-copy of a directory. In my case, the mtimes are all unreliable. The data is the same, but the times are all messed up and always will be. I am trying to use --compare-dest with --checksum or --size-only and it does not work. All files are transferred and the delta copy

SSL encryption with icecast2
Hi there, is it possible to use such encryption like SSL/TLS for authenticating users on a mountpoint? I can't find somethin like that in the docmentation and it would be nice to have such a mechanism like that, because all passwords will be transmitted in PLAIN text. This is not very secure, because anyone can see the usernames and passwords in his sniffer program. Would be pleased if

Using two (...) in a function
Hello R-Helpers, I am not sure if it is a very simple question but I would like to use two (...) in a function, for example, this is a script where I would like to input the variable names (in one of the (...)) and the variances associated to those variables which are not calculated in the script because there is a specific software to calculate it (the other (...)) data <- function

domU can not start in Xen 4.0.1-rc3-pre using tapdisk
The domU is using pygrub to boot its own 2.6.18.8-xen kernel. It can be booted successfully under 2.6.18.8-xen dom0 and xen 3.3.1. However when upgrade dom0 to 2.6.32.15 and xen 4.0.1-rc3-pre, the domU can not boot with tapdisk. I am wondering it is something related to the blktap driver. *When using tap:aio:* PATH/disk.img in domU disk configuration, the boot process hanged at a prompt: XENBUS:

Variable as a filename
Hi R community, I have a question. I have 5 files in a directory. Each file has a year as a name (file 1 ->2004, file 2-> 2005, ...). I want to build a for loop where I call first file, do some calculations, go to second file, do some calculations, etc. Somethin like this: year<-2003 nfiles <- length(dir()) for( year in 2003:nfiles) {clima<-read.csv2([year]".csv",

cdrecord Error (Permissions?)
List, Sorry to trouble anyone, a google on my error from k3b lead me to a permissions issue, but after searching through several of the links (including a few forums) I've failed to turn up exactly what the permissions should be or if that is even an accurate solution.
