Driver for Tripp Lite SmartPro SLT
I have a new SMART1050SLT Tripp Lite UPS that both tripplite and tripplitesu drivers hate. Both simply time out with a "can't find" message. Does anyone know about the SmartPro series?

Printing vs. iptables
Recently, Windows 2000 SP4 clients have developed a problem when using a network printer connected to a Samba print share. Some applications are OK. But take, well, notepad, for example. Selecting a local printer is normal, but there is a two minute delay (!) in selecting a network printer. Once selected, all is well. All smb operations are frozen until the selection happens. This is

TrippLite SmartPro and 2.0.3
I'm running Ubuntu 5.10, featuring a patched kernel 2.6.12. I have a Tripp Lite SmartPro SLT ups connected via USB. I have cleanly compiled and installed the new nut 2.0.3. I do have the "extras", like libusb, installed too. I need some USB advice- that is, I'm not sure what a normal baseline should look like. At boot, the modules usb_core and uhci_hcd are loaded. dmesg

Tripp Lite is up to no good
Well, I have good news and bad news. I have a Tripp Lite SmartPro UPS attached to a Linux server running Ubuntu 5.10, and I'm running the just-released nut 2.0.3. I had error -71 from the UPS, which Charles Lepple correctly called out as a likely cable problem (thank you, Charles.) The cable provided with the UPS by Tripp Lite was just plain bad. Not too long, mind you- defective. I

[Bridge] bridge-utils + Linksys WET11
So, I'm setting up my first bridge, and I'm running into an interesting issue. I have a 4 port NIC (formerly 4 seperate /29 and /28 LANs) and an onboard NIC (to my ISP). I've setup the bridge using the script included at the bottom of this email (modified from Gentoo for Aurora). When the WET11 (the WET11 is a simple ethernet to wireless bridge) is unplugged, the bridge works

replicate matrix
Hi all, I have a matrix, for example [,1] [,2] [1,] 1 3 [2,] 4 6 I want to replicate the matrix twice and add an extra column at the end, which is [,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] [,5] [,6] [,7] [1,] 1 3 1 3 1 3 2 [2,] 4 6 4 6 4 6 5 I found 'rep' only works for vector. Does anyone know how to replicate a matrix, and append the matrix?

A chinese R-info page and a question
Dear R community, I wrote and someone else helped me type a 5-page R-info in Chinese, covering the most basic information on how to get and install and start using R on Wintel PC. This could serve those not fluent in/intimidated by English but want to start using R. (I met a lot of those in China) <http://www.ms.uky.edu/~mai/ZhongWen.htm> also a MSword version of the same (may print

element-by-element comparison
Hi, I have a vector and a matrix. For example, A = [ 12 3 4]; B = [ 4 13 10 2 4 8]; I am comparing A to each column of B using A>B[,ii], so the expected result is C = [ 1 0 0 1 0 0]; I am looking for a way to do this quickly instead of going through the for loop, but haven't had any luck yet? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you very much. Wendy

weighted x variables with glm
I have a glm regression (quasi-poisson) of log(mu) on x but I have varying degrees of confidence in the x values, and can attach a numerical weighting to each. Can anyone help me with suggestions of how to analysise this. Is there an R package that would help? Wendy [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

round up a number to 10^4
Hi all, I have a list of numbers, e.g., X = c(60593.23, 71631.17, 75320.1), and want to round them so the output is Y = c(60000, 80000, 80000). I tried Y<-round(X,-4), but it gives me Y = c(60000, 70000, 80000). Do anybody know how to round up a number to 10^4? Thank you in advance. Wendy -- View this message in context:

[RFC LINUX PATCH 0/2] Virtio ring works with DMA coherent memory
RPMsg uses dma_alloc_coherent() to allocate memory to shared with the remote. In this case, as there is no pages setup in the dma_alloc_coherent(), we cannot get the physical address back from the virtual address, and thus, we can set the sg_dma_addr to store the DMA address and mark it already DMA mapped. When virtio vring sees the sg_dma_addr is ready set, do not call dma_map_page(). The issue

count number of TRUEs in each row
Hi all, I have a huge matrix of TRUE/FALSE table like following, and I want to count the number of TRUEs in each row. Instead of looping through each row and do length(Z[Z==TRUE]), I am wondering if there is an easier way of doing this. [,1] [,2] [,3] [1,]TRUE FALSE FALSE [2,]FALSE TRUE TRUE Thank you in advance.
