file attributes (ACL's) lost
Hello,
I have an iSCSI mount that I disconnected from during a reboot and after
remounting it all the ACL's are missing. Using 'll' shows no extended file
attributes and 'getfacl' on the dir' shows that the previous attributes
are now missing. Restarting smb, nmb, & winbind didn't restore them
either.
Is there a way to restore the attributes? Not sure how they

Samba on freebsd - permissions issue
Hello,
I have Samba set up on FreeBSD with a share for guests. I don't need or want any authentication for this share.
[test2]

read only = No
create mask = 0777
guest ok = Yes
The file permission on the host directory was set to 2777 and nobody:nobody. When a windows machine writes to the dir the permissions look fine. For example,

Linking against a specific Berkeley DB install
I sent this question to the OpenLDAP list yesterday, but I still haven't
seen the message come across the list. I am asking here in the hopes of
getting a faster response.
I am trying to compile OpenLDAP 2.3.11 from source on CentOS4. I have the
rpm for db4-4.2.52-7.1 installed and also a source build of BerkeleyDB in
/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.4.
How do I get OpenLDAP to link with the bdb

HELP: ServerWorks data corruption after 350 MB with BerkeleyDB 4.0?
Hi,
I received a bug report against BerkeleyDB 4 that may not be BerkeleyDB
related, but a problem with FreeBSD or specific hardware in general.
Jie Song (CC'd) reported that writing files with BerkeleyDB (no
threading or something) on his ServerWorks machine causes data
corruption (detected by BerkeleyDB 4.0 library functions) when the file
sizes grow beyond 350 MB. For details, see PR

Request to update slapd.conf and OpenLDAP info for Samba-Guide/happy.html
Dear Team,
The OpenLDAP stuff on this page:
http://us4.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/happy.html
is not the preferred backend, i.e. ldbm, it really, really needs to be bdb.
See:
http://www.openldap.org/faq/index.cgi?_highlightWords=bdb%20ldbm&file=1085
"ldbm uses a neutral storage interface which in principle could wrap dbm,
ndbm, gdbm or sleepycat as underlying storage;

Problems migrating from WBEL
Hi folks:
I've recently migrated one of my production servers (bad Jason!) from
WBEL to CentOS 3.3 using Donavan's instructions in the FAQ
(http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=19). While it
was as painless as the document suggests, I've run into problems with
postgrey (a postfix greylisting daemon) on my server. Whenever I try
to start postgrey, I get the

nsswitch not working for ldap
I am following the instruction in Samba by Example chapter 6 on a RHEL4
server. Everything seems OK until I get to 6.3.5.7, which says to do the
following:-
root# getent passwd | grep Adminstrator
which returns nothing, indicating that the nsswitch (nss_ldap libary) is
not working.
I cannot find anything in any of the log files to give my a clue nor any
hints on how to debug this.

Need help to install dovecot on solaris 10 with openldap libs
Hi,
I install dovecot with ldap support at Solaris 10 (x86). I know that solaris LDAP is broken and so I install openldap. OpenLDAP shared libraries are at /usr/local/lib and /usr/local/include. While installing dovecot, I did the followings:
I execute this before run "./configure --with-ldap"
LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/lib -R/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/lib

DB for blacklisting thought
Hello all,
I''m new to the list. But have been using Shorewall on and off for
over a year now. The one thing that got me hooked on staying with
Shorewall, was the extensive and useful documentation.
Great Job!
I see also that over use of blacklisting is time consuming for restarts,
refresh and it also means the kernel spends more time checking incoming
packets.

Profiles pemissions and ldap backend
Two quick questions:
1.
For a samba server what backend would produce the best performance with
samba. ldbm or bdb?
2.
What permissions should be on the profiles folder and the subsequent users
folders?
/data/profiles
/date/profiles/user1
/date/profiles/user2
Thanks for your time
