Notes and warnings in building a package ('ms-dos style file name', 'no visible binding' and using .C("bincount", ..., PACKAGE = "base"))
Dear all, While buildign a package (R 2.15.2 on windows XP) I had three warnings/notes -- I would be grateful for any hints on what to do. 1. The first one is probably not really important if I'm not missing something: cygwin warning: MS-DOS style path detected: C:/x/y/z/package_1.0.tar.gz Preferred POSIX equivalent is: /cygdrive/c/x/y/z/package_1.0.tar.gz CYGWIN environment variable

MS DOS 7 XCopy copies the same file over and over
We use MS DOS 7 ala Win98 SE and the M$ client for DOS to logon to Samba 3.0.13 Debian Stable package from samba.org. Also one other unique thing, we have XCOPY32.EXE copied as XCOPY.EXE thus it is really XCOPY32.EXE we are executing, just as XCOPY.EXE. ;-) Example of failing line of code... echo f|xcopy u:\foo\bar.txt h:\file.txt where U: is the drive mapped to the server and H: is a local RAM

function for running MS-DOS on R
I had downloaded the program that runs on MS-DOS. Is it possible for MS-DOS to be run in R such as WinBugs1.4? I wonder whether there is the R function for running MS-DOS from R such as the 'bug.r' function to make Winbugs practicable in R. I had heard Rterm.exe that runs on MS-DOS. However, What I need is to run MS-DOS in R but to run R in MS-DOS.

help with function "system" and MS-DOS command TYPE
Greetings - I have a quick question that I hope someone will have a quick answer. I have tried to use the R function "system" with the MS-DOS command "type" to display the full content of a text file. But it always returns with a message saying the text file is not found. I could accomplish the same task with the "cat" command which is one of the unix-like commands

MS-DOS Batch File Commands
I'm trying to get the AndroidSDK going under Wine. There are problems with the MS-DOS commands (for example, the /D option with the 'For' command and the use of options to apply to the Path environment varaible (to prevent space being used as a delimiter between path folders) it uses in the supplied batch files it calls from a supplied .exe file. I presume that the cmd.exe (in

Reason for slow MS-DOS MS client writes
The low speed of writes with the MS-DOS, MS newtworking client has to do with the limit of MAXSENDSIZE (from TCPUTILS.INI) By default, the value is 1024, but the maximum value is 2048. If this value is not set to the same as the Samba server's SO_RCVBUF, then performence will suffer GREATLY. We had a Windows system hosting Norton Ghost images, but it took a dive, and our company has

MS DOS client : solution
Hello, I finally found a solution to allow basic MS DOS client 3.0 redirector to work with Samba. I'm sure you'll find it ugly, but it works. Under CORE protocol, the $"#&^ MS client sends unencrypted passwords to the samba server (maybe there is no support of encryption in CORE, I don't know). So as my clients are either W95, WfW, NT or DOS machines, I simply remove the

MS-DOS Magic ?
Hi all, I've tried and retried to make some USB sticks bootable. I started by making one partition, labeling it FAT16, copying a kernel, an initrd and a very simple syslinux.cfg file. I ran syslinux /dev/sda1 on it. Didn't boot. I tried placing on it the mbr.bin file ('cat mbr.bin > /dev/sda') but still no boot. Then I tried various combinations of these two. Labeling

Samba 1.9.x vs 2.0.7 not connecting to MS DOS Server
I am not sure if this is a bug or a feature... The 2.0.7 version no longer wants to connect to a DOS 6.22/DOS LANMAN2.1 (wg1049.exe) server. Version 1.9.18 does work. Both smbclient and (more importantly for our needs) smbmount fail. However, both work fine with win95 boxes. The problem seems specific to the DOS server. I could not find any reference to this issue. Am I perhaps overlooking
