Applying ACL patches
Hello everybody
I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem. I have redhat 7.3 with
the 2.4.18-3 kernel and after applying the acl patches to the kernel,
running make menuconfig and make dep I then run make bzImage which produces
the following error:
ld -m elf_i386 -T /usr/src/linux-2.4.18-3/arch/i386/vmlinux.lds -e stext
arch/i386/kernel/head.o arch/i386/kernel/init_task.o init/main.o

ext3fs and 2.4.14 kernel
Good morning,
I have tried to compile a 2.4.14 kernel (because I have some trouble
with the framebuffer and my Toshiba...). Thus, I have downloaded the
latest kernel and the ext3 patch. I have used the .config file used for
the compilation of my 2.4.13 kernel, but the compilation ends with
make[1]: Quitte le répertoire `/usr/src/linux-2.4.14/arch/i386/lib'
ld -m elf_i386 -T

Hello one more time,
As others seem to already asked without reply, I''m getting lower speed rates
than specified via ingress. How do I know. Because I have this in my script:

# Filter intranet traffic, so fit it to intranet speed
tc filter add dev $DEV parent ffff: protocol ip prio 10 u32 \
match ip src $Q_2_HOSTS \

Section mismatch in parainstructions
Is it OK for section .parainstructions to reference

Offtopic: nfs, tmpfs and `getfh failed: Operation not permitted'
Sorry this is off-topic, but I'm scrambling to get this system in,
google didn't help, and I'm sure someone on this list knows the answer
cold.
I'm trying to nfs-export a tmpfs disk. I saw a hint from a response
about ram disks... which leads to my guess that tmpfs simply doesn't
implement some method that nfsd needs.
I can probably survive without tmpfs, but I'd like to

OffTopic - But Question about Current status of Ruby Talk List
Pardon,
I know this isn''t the right forum, but for some reason it seems
Ruby-Talk has been silent for days...which I''m definitely not used to.
Is the mailing list server down? or having technical issues?
Again, I apologize for posting this question on this forum, but not sure
where else to ask.

Offtopic --- book references
Hola!
I am about to do this years buying for our library, and could need
help with some references.
Some people here will start to work with IRT and Rasch models.

what books to buy.
I want one introductory book on IRT/Rasch, and one more
profound, with sufficient detail to actually start coding.
Anybody knows some good

[Offtopic] menus of Windows applications
Hi,
I'm curious how feasible would it be to make menu commands of Windows applications available over DBus?
It would give endless possibilities if Windows applications could join GTK/QT/XUL/Java applications that share there functionality to be implemented a various innovative ways (Gnome Shell menu, Unity app menu, HUD).
I see that it might not be trivial because Windows programs are

Script for removing stale sessions: version for RH6.0? [Offtopic?]
Hello, people at SAMBA list.
I'm going thru the same problem that Nicholas Williams has
described in samba-list first (see references below), and I'm implementing
the solution you've decribed in the list
(SO_KEEPALIVE, etc). But I'm stuck with the script issue, as I run RedHat
Linux 6.0 which doesn't use ksh but pdksh instead. The ksh script doesn't
run in pdksh

I am looking for a small PC with very specific criteria; these machines
are going into an industrial setting (which I cannot explain in detail);
I was hoping someone on this list might have experience with
