Name Resolve Order : parameter of smb.conf with testparm
I am writing this letter and I hope that I'll have answers about the
generation of smb.conf by the way of smb.conf.master with testparm command.
Like is described on page 5 of Samba3-HOWTO.pdf.
The situation is:
- The manual of smb.conf says that the default value of the parameter ?name
resolve order? is ?lmhosts host wins bcast?, but when I type the command
like:
# testparm -s

joining to a Domain with a tdbsam backend (smb.conf, testparm and log included)
I'm about to give up. It's been months now that I've been playing around
with Samba 3.0. I've downloaded their documentation. Tried to follow it as
much as possible, but I'm getting no where with adding machine accounts to a
Domain, real fast.
I've asked this question a couple of times at the Samba Mailing list, but
have gotten no reply(probably my fault, not enough info).

[Asterisk-Dev] SIP channels not cleared
Hello all,
When I do 'sip show channels' I have seen a lot of
entries where these calls has already been terminated.
Some of these channels are bolong to calls being made
2 days ago but still showing from the CLI. They look

testparm error in HPUX10.20 w/ smb 2.0.0
Hello and thanks in advance for any tips or help.
I just finished loading the binaries and installing samba 2.0.0 for
HPUX10.20 using SAM. This is my second installation of samba on this
machine. I reused my old smb.conf file with little or no changes. (ok I
had to retype it from an older version because my machine died and
HP10.20 can't recover 10.0x version multiple tape backups, but I

Conf file system generation in * for User/Admin update
Is there anyone who could show me code (or point me in
the right direction) to allow users or PABX Admin to
generate their own * conf files.
If there isn't anything I will just have to start it
myself. Any suggestions for basics to start with. I
believe the issues are going to be about dependencies
between the various conf. files.
Any help would be gratefully received.
A GUI for this would

Random "unknown" codec format IAX calls
I seem to be having a problem that I have narrowed down to a
disagreement on codec negotiation or codec setup of some kind in an IAX
peering arrangement. Here's a non-ASCII art version of the setup:
DID origination provider
via SIP/gsm
to
Call routing asterisk server
via IAX/gsm
to
Client asterisk server
via SIP/ulaw
to
Polycom 501 UA

smb.conf getting changed?
Hi!
I got my first Samba 4 system up and running. {No applause, just throw
money. Paper please, coins hurt}
It is just a home network of about a dozen or so boxes.
I have noticed that when I do a testparm, the result is not the same as
the file I created.
I'm fairly certain it isn't anything to worry about; I'm just trying to
learn.
Thanks!

IAX2 channels denoted as '(None)'
I have some stuck channels that I think I'm going to have to bounce
Asterisk to get rid of, but am curious to know what they are and how
they've managed to accumulate. The show up with a channel identifier of
'(None)' as in the output below, and do not show up in the soft hangup
list, and so can't be cleared by that method. Here is the output from
iax2 show channels:

[smb.conf] How to get "rw r r" ?
Havany
Hi,
Did you try 133 mask instead of 0133 ?
We use to disable acl for this kind of share and do something like that :
[share]
path = /a/share/path
create mask = 133
directory mask = 022
valid users = @agroup
write list = @sagroup
force group = @agroup
nt acl support = No

Values set in Include files and SMB.CONF
Hi,
I use "include" files to define samba shares for individual users, so
that each user has his/her own smb.username.conf file. Makes maintenance
straightforward when you have hundreds of users. :)
Now I want to use "include" files for another purpose. My many servers
all have a standard smb.conf file, but I want to be able to customize
the global settings on some

Public key authentication and logging
Hello,
[This message has been sent previously to the
ssh-users list, but got no answer, so maybe it's not a
usage problem. Sorry for the crossposting]
We are using OpenSSH 4.1p1 on a Linux box. The only
authentication method allowed is by public key.
Everything works without any problem, EXCEPT logging
in one situation :
1/ if a known user tries to log, with a proper (known)
key, as
