Server Install Eth0 & Eth1 not working
Hi Everyone: I installed CentOS 4.4 on a new Dell 2950 using the server cd. No errors during the installation and no errors on bootup when loading the Eth0 or Eth1 interfaces. I currently have iptables stopped and selinux disabled. The interfaces have been given a static ip (192.168.1.x). the subnet is 255.255.255.0 and the gateway is 192.168.1.1. I can not ping any device on my network

Managing Switches.
All, I was looking at the new feature of puppet to manage switches, and it says: "A current limitation is that it isn’t possible to have 2 switches with the same interface name" Does this mean that if one switch has an interface called FastEthernet 0/1, that puppet can''t manage a second switch with an interface called FastEthernet 0/1? If so, that probably means you can

Samba and Multiple NICs
Hi, I'm a happy Samba user. I've been working sucessfully in Linux for the past 6 months. I've built a Linux Server with very fast storage and I'm connecting it to many Windows XP "video editing workstations" via Gigabit Ethernet (all NICs using Jumbo Frames, by the way). Now I want to see if I can increase my data flow in and out of the Server so that more

OT: RIP settings for private netblocks
I am contemplating converting some of our internal networks from routable to private IPv4 address space. I have a question about RIP as implemented under Cisco IOS 12.x. Presently the setting for rip is: router rip version 2 passive-interface [[FastEthernet]]0/0 network aaa.bbb.ccc.0 no auto-summary What I would like to know is how one routes the entire 192.168/16 address space using rip.

Freebsd Stable 6.x ipsec slower than with 4.9
Hello List, I have to dualcore Athlon 64 4800+ systems. Initially I was running 4.9 on both of them an was able to get 54mbits thru direct connected realtek 10/100 cards as measured by nttcp. I put stable on one of the system and now can on get 37mbits as measured by nttcp when going thru an ipsec tunnel. Eliminating the tunnel I get 94mbit/sec. Ideas as to why this is happening? Also

samba 3 performance issues
I believe I have some hardware or configuration related performance issues running samba 3.0.14a-3sarge. Our server is an Intel Celeron 2 Ghz with 512 MB of RAM and a 3ware card using SATA disks in a RAID 5 configuration (3ware controller card). We have a gigabit network and are using Intel Gigabit ethernet cards e1000). When copying large files to the samba shares on the system, the

Good write, but slow read speeds over the network
Hi all, I am running Netalk on OSol snv134 on a Dell R610, 32 GB RAM server. I am experiencing different speeds when when writing to and reading from the pool. The pool itself consists of two FC LUNs that each build a vdev (no comments on that please, we discussed that already! ;) ). Now, I am having a couple of AFP clients that access this pool either via FastEthernet or even GiBitEthernet.

OT - Cisco IP Phone and PC in different VLANs(with802.1x)
Switch is only tagging the vlan packets. Once the PC loads the vlan aware driver ("client") it will be able to read tagged packet for the vlan which PC has been configured to use. Nothing to be done on the switch. cisco dial-peer voip
I have 2610 XM with 1 Fastethernet and VIC2-2BRI. Dialin and dialout over pots is ok. Also inbound pots calls get redirected to Asterisk y.y.y.y So far so good. But I want to setup VOIP sessions with local carrier. I added dial-peer 40 for this. Session target x.x.x.x But calls will always get routed to the pstn peers 50 and 60. Peer x.x.x.x is never contacted or tried. My situation: PSTN

I received a sample IP/Speakerphone from my friends in China today. Asterisk setup was fairly uncomplicated and I had it running as an extension on my server within a few minutes. Sounds quality of both the receiver and the speakerphone are fine (wife's opinion). Are there any tests I should run with this phone? Following are the specs: - Single line appearance - Alpha display, 2x16 chars -

OT - Cisco IP Phone and PC in diferent VLANs(with 802.1x)
Cisco phones act a as a switch. If you do not use the CDP protocol to "tell" the phone it needs to be in a special VLAN (802.1q) then it will just use the access port settings on the switch, and, also allow the PC connected to the 2nd Ethernet port to have access to the network. However, if you have an all cisco powered network, with all cisco phones, I could advise you to use the CDP
