Issue regarding timestamp mismatch
Hi,
We have the SAMBA server installed for UNIX box.
(SWAT having 2 daemons - smbd and nmbd)
So user can access the UNIX directories through Windows NT.
While copying any of the files from WINDOWS NT explorer to
NFS shared directory, the modify date/time automatically becomes
the current date/time, irrespective of the original file's modify
date/time.
How do I retain this modify

Help: SMS in UK
Hi-
Having a little trouble with the SMS application in the UK. I've read the
wiki topic and also the BT documentation SIN 413, which describes the
service technically.
I've been able to successfully send messages from my customer's ISDN
landline to various mobiles, but cannot get the mobiles to be able to send
messages back to the landline. I've tried sending from both Cellnet

SSL alert number 42
That is good to know. I was working on the wrong assumption, attempting
to create a client certificate on the Windows/Thunderbird side.
I am using the SSL Certificate that comes with the distribution, so the
conclusion is Thunderbird does not trust it.
I have this in my notes from ages ago, for generating my own self-signed
certificate:
% openssl req -x509 -newkey rsa:4096 -sha256 -keyout

Tip Sheet for AJAX
Hi all,
I''m making an Amy Hoy style tip sheet PDF for the Prototype and
Scriptaculous AJAX stuff, to be used with Rails. Are there other
resources you would suggest besides the websites themselves (the
previous thread about Highlight reminded me of this)? Is there a
particular focus that would be helpful for such a document? Preferred
fonts or colors?
I must say, once you get

Re [ogg]
Ok everything seemed to install perfectly but where is icecast? Seems
like it doesn't install the icecast like the previous versions did. I
can find no /usr/local/icecast directory.

Mixed Autehtnication and password schemes
Hi
Looking for some confirmation/direction on how to achieve the following.
We have a requirement to support both SASL PLAIN and DIGEST-MD5 authentication (certification reasons). In addition to this we have an application (webmail) that utilises a master password pattern for access, as the contain web portal provides the necessary authentication.
I have access to users passwords in PLAIN text

Re [ogg]
Hello:
I went to the archives of xiph and searched for ogg. I read through
about a hundred messages that are archived and still can't tell whether
icecast will stream ogg. Does anyone know what streaming server I should
set up to stream ogg/vorbis format (on a Linux OS)?

Document clustering for R
I'm working on a project related to document clustering. I know that R
has clustering algorithms such as clara, but only supports two distance
metrics: euclidian and manhattan, which are not very useful for
clustering documents. I was wondering how easy it would be to extend the
clustering package in R to support other distance metrics, such as
cosine distance, or if there was an API for

Samba restart
hi all,
I noticed that when I upgraded from Samba 2.0.7 (redhat 7.0) to samba 2.2.1a
I lost this nice little script that came with redhat to start and stop the
samba server.
I would type in /usr/sbin/samba start and get a response like...
/usr/sbin/smbd start (OK)
/usr/sbin/nmbd start (OK)
I liked that...does any one have a substitute that I could use for 2.2.1a?
Thanks

Samba and LDAP
After perusing the Samba 3.x docs and purchasing Terpstra's and Vernooij's
excellent Samba-3 Howto, I am still unclear on LDAP authentication. Not a
Windows admin so please bear with me.
1) Regarding the Samba schema, is there a tool to extract the Windows client
information (sid, etc.) for populating an LDIF?
