Questions on the state of the UPS market
As previously noted, I need to replace a UPS and want to do my product research in public so others can benefit. The information I elicit on this thread will be merged into the UPS-HOWTO. I went to my local computer-equiuipment big-box store, a place called MicroCenter in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. I looked at the range of "UPS" devices they sell and was *completely* confused. Bear in

Can anybody tell me how to solve this? -- smb.conf -- [global] netbios name = BARAD-DUR workgroup = MIDDLE-EARTH server string =

Struggling with Samba + AD member config (winbind auth failing) :(
Hello Samba List, I am struggling with connecting samba to our AD servers. Thought it will be easy as before but I was wrong. DCs: Windows Server 2012 (2x) with AD Domain Forest/Level 2003 NATIVE. + SBS 2003 (will be removed, migrating from SBS AD to new 2012 servers) -standard AD schema with exchange attributes DID NOT INSTALL UNIX attributes. This is required for SSSD. Thought i would go

htdocs on NFS share / any pitfalls?
Hi all, i have a new setup where the htdocs directory for the webserver is located on a nfs share. Client has cachefilesd configured. Compared to the old setup (htdocs directory is on the local disk) the performance is not so gratifying. The disk is "faster" compared to the ethernet link but the cache should at least compensate this a bit. Do they exist more pitfalls for such

GlusterFS Fuse client hangs when coping large files
Hello, I?m having some weird problems while coping large files (> 1GB) to a GlusterFS through a Fuse client. When the copy is done using the cp command everything is fine, but if I use a Java program, the GlusterFS Fuse hangs. The kern.log shows timeout for the Java program and the Fuse client. Anyone have experienced this behavior? Test environment: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS (GNU/Linux

Want timestamp to change when copying from WinXP to Samba share
Hi folks, Windows has a default behavior of preserving timestamps when you copy a file. I want to update the 'Date Modified' timestamp to current time when I copy a file from Windows XP to a Samba share, just like a unix file copy would. Is there some way of doing this? Maybe w/ a script? 'dos filetimes' and 'dos filemode' don't seem to do the trick. Here's my

Changing timestamp when copying files to Samba share
Hi, Is there some way of doing this? When I copy a file from Windows XP onto a Samba share, I want it to reflect the current time, instead of preserving the windows "Date Modified" time. This works by default in Unix. Windows preserves the timestamp by default. 'dos filetimes' and 'dos filemode' in smb.conf don't seem to do the trick. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Coping with non-standard evaluation in R program analysis
Evan, The pryr package provides some utilities which may be handy here. In particular see the function: is_promise. Also, next time please post in plaintext. Regards Ben > Hello R experts, > > > I plan to develop a tool for dynamic analysis of R programs. I would like to trace function calls at runtime, capturing argument and return values. Coping WoW tree
I have just been told that I can copy the installed WoW tree from Win XP to Wine (same machine, dual boot) because WoW doesnt use the registry. Granted, that would save a lot of time, BUT, is it true? Thanks, Jim -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Coping with non-standard evaluation in R program analysis
Hi Evan, You may find some parts of what we are doing with genthat useful. Genthat is a tool for creating unit tests by recording argument and return values of calls. This is done by instrumentation of the source code. The git repo with the code is here https://github.com/PRL-PRG/genthat We don?t really deal with NSE though. It could be something worth thinking about for us. The contact for
