LDAP passwords not working after upgrading to Samba 3
Hi All,
I apologize in advance for the length of this post but I wanted to be as
thorough as possible and get this problem fixed. I'm trying to upgrade our
existing Samba 2.2.7 server with an OpenLDAP 2.0.27 backend to Samba 3 using
the same LDAP database. After I did the upgrade(in a test environment),
user passwords no longer work. I've read articles upon articles explaining

Problems with NT passwords using Samba3 and LDAP
I'm at my wits end here so hopefully someone can help me.
Currently I have a Redhat 9.0 box running Samba 2.2.7 with openldap 2.0.27
as a PDC
Domain logins work great with this setup. I can add, remove, modify
computers and users all day long without a glitch.
I do not store usernames in the local smbpasswd or passwd files.
User information is stored in ou=Users,dc=mydomain,dc=com

PDC LDAP- user can't log in
Hello,
I'm trying to configure a Debian woody with samba 3.0.5 and ldap from
www.backports.org. I managed to get to the point where I created a user
with
smbldap-adduser -m -a
smbldap-passwd
smbpasswd
I can log into the server with this user and smbclient
//server/user -Uuser%pass works as expected.
The WinXP is able to join the domain and the machine account gets created in ldap.
But I

Hi once again
Now I have almost everything working, that is, Samba 3.0.2 with Ldap
database (messages ok when reading), and I want it to be a PDC,
everything seems to work fine when registering machines or users, but
when logging, I mean, entering W2k-Sp4, my computers (two of them) reset
themselves: they begin to load the user defined stuff and then when one

smbldap- only user root can login to windows.
After getting samba, ldap and smbtools setup and joining machines to the domain
successfully, the only user that can login to the win2k boxes is the user
root created initially by the smbldap scripts. Any other user comes up with
a bad username and password message in windows.
Any of the users I've tried to login to the windows box can login to other
linux machines, can connect using

I've just gotten my first machine to join the domain, and now I'm trying
to log in as a normal user. I get this error in windows "The system
could not log you on. Make sure your username and password are correct

at the end that authentication succeeded?

2.2 to 3.0.x PDC upgrade: an XP box no longer authenticates domain users with the Samba PDC
Hi!
    I've recently been upgrading a Samba 2.2 installation to 3.0 (on a
SuSE 9.3 machine, specific version is 3.0.13-1.1-SuSE). Everything went
more or less okay, but I'm stumped on the following problem... here's
the general setup:
    * Samba acting as a PDC (named "servidor"). Was upgraded from 2.2 to
3.0. I copied the smb.conf file, and the

3.0.1-2 failed to decode PDU
Hi All,
come acrross a curious issue with 3.0.1-2 from Debian unstable. Looks
like a bug of sorts to me...
Have a PDC configured and basically working well, apart from single
recurrent issue that keeps popping up in the logs below, related to
failure or breaking of remote procedure calls.
The pipes more often break when using the UNC path as opposed to IP.

Samba 3.0.2+ldap, user manager for domains problem
Hello, all!
I'm running samba 3.0.2 PDC on FreeBSD 5.2 with ldapsam backend. Everything works great (thanks to Samba Team!) except adding add deleting users from user manager for domains. Group adding and deleting works normally. When I tried do add user I received error window about remote procedure call error, but disabled user account was created in ldap and it was added to Domain Users

Urgent Please - Samba 3.0.1 - LDAP - WinXP ... has anyone got it working???
I've been trying to have Samba 3.0.1 work as a primary domain controller
using LDAP as the authentication mechanism.
However I am unable to get any of my Windows XP Pro machine join the
domain. When prompt for an account with permissions to join the domain
by the XP client, I give it the Administrator account which is granted
Full access to the LDAP directory (BTW this is poor security,

Machine account found and not found in 3.0.2
Brad,
I found your posting of 2/20/2004 with the subject line of
"upgraded to 3.0.2 -> funkyness in machine accounts" while investigating a
similar problem.
I upgraded to 3.0.2 last week from 3.0.0.
I have a system which I just added to the domain successfully. However, when I
attempt to log a domain user onto that machine, I get this error:
