Nmbd errors & not starting since upgrade to 3.0.2a?
I have recently upgraded my Redhat 7.3 server to Fedora FC1 with all related updates. I also upgraded my samba version from 3.0.0 to 3.0.2a. It now seems that my nmbd daemon will not start & subsequently I cannot log in from any Windows client as the netbios server name PDC is not found I think. Before this problem started, I noticed that in order for my DNS ping requests from Windows clients

nmbd Problem
Hello, I am using samba 2.0.4b on Linux 2.0.36. Since I changed some of the parameters in my smb.conf I have a very strange Problem. Everytime my Samba-Box wins the browselist election process two nmbds are started and my WinXX-Clients do not get access to samba (I could see the server but not access the shares nor login to the domain). smbclient -L server from server works fine. From another

I am so frustrated - Samba ports not opening and no error message
Okay - I've been plugging away and it got to the point that running smbclient was returning information about an Alfresco install that I never used, so I went ahead and deleted everything I could find on my machine that said "alfresco". I then removed samba using apt-get from the machine by typing apt-get remove --purge samba I deleted the /etc/samba directory and re-installed

samba crashes on startup
hi, i've been trying for like two weeks to figure out why samba doesn't run properly. from the logs it looks like smbd will start followed by nmbd. then nmbd will exit for no apparent reason. i'm able to start samba manually with the command '/etc/init.d/samba start'. right now i'm assuming nmbd is the reason why samba doesn't load. i'm running samba version

Probably a bug in samba audit
Hi. I got this email-address from BUGS.txt file of the samba distribution. I read it carefully. I got configured and working samba, I work with samba above one year. panic when rejecting registration requests
Another, I assume unrelated, problem that we're seeing is that samba panics every time the nmbd server rejects a registration request. Go ahead and check out what the logs indicate, and if you have any advice, please tell me. I've already submitted this to samba-bugs because that's what they say to do for these errors. -----------NMB Log Level 3------------ *Initial registration:*

Purging Windows cache after NetBIOS namechange?
Hello XP(SP3) seems to take a long time to update its list of shares after changing the NetBIOS name used in Samba (eg. going from "LINUX" to "UBUNTU"). Is there a command in Windows that can purge the data, and perform a new broadcast/WINS call to get the list of hosts and shares? Thank you.

Continued: Join domain OK, but domain not found after reboot
Hi, all: To recap: I can successfully get my WinXP box to join the domain (WHITEROCK), but after rebooting, when I try to log on: "The system cannot log you on now because the domain WHITEROCK is not available." I get this even when using the user 'root' - and this user was the one to successfully join the domain WHITEROCK!! To rule out any stale junk, my WinXP is a
