Virtual network using ssh tunneling on Windows 2K/XP. Please help.
Hi, I'm trying to connect to a samba server via an ssh tunnel. I'm running ssh on my W2K machine. If I try to connect from another machine that is running an OS called RiscOS and a NetBIOS client called LanMan98 then it works perfectly, but if I try to connect from the another Windows machine running XP, or from the W2k machine (uisng loopback), I get "Windows cannot find

OpenVPN tunnel and one-way audio - Do I still need a SIP proxy? (bruce bruce)
> I don't think it's an endpoint issue. I think the SIP packet headers get > over-written by the tunnel (openvpn) protocol. I'd be rather astonished if OpenVPN itself were responsible for this. As far as I know, OpenVPN doesn't do higher-level-protocol rewriting of any sort. It just provides the "bit pipe" through the tunnel. I'd suggest several other

OpenVPN tunnel and one-way audio - Do I still need a SIP proxy?
Hi Everyone, I have setup an OpenVPN tunnel between Server A (running Asterisk) and Server B suppling it's SIP Phones with DHCP pool of IPs. So, the tunnel is established nicely and everyone can ping others. "sip show peers" shows the local subnet of the SIP Phones registered (192.168.100.0/24 ). But there is the old bad one-way audio. Calls also drop after few seconds. In the SIP

How to tunnel Samba via ssh from Windows XP without having to disable local NetBIOS
The most recent discussions I could find on the internet about how to tunnel Samba over ssh were on this list (http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2004-February/), but no complete answers were given. Here is a near complete answer, which works, pulled together from various sources on the web (which are referenced). Remaining questions are at the end. It is kind of PuTTY-centric, but as far as I

TINC and OpenVPN tunnel performance on a Windows client
Hi, I had some performance problems with TINC running on Windows XP. I had a VPN tunnel running over a wireless network to a Linux VPN server. Web browsing through the tunnel was a pain. Big web pages with lots of pictures loaded very slow compared to a plain network connection. When the VPN client was running on a Linux computer, and a Windows computer was browsing the web through the VPN

iptables - Forwarding with port translation thru an OpenVPN tunnel
Perhaps someone with a sharper brain than I can solve this little mystery. I've Googled until I'm blue in the face, read all TFM's I can find, and tried several iptables rule combinations but just can't get the following to work. Here's my challenge: I have a CentOS-5.3 "main" server with a static public IP address running Apache, OpenVPN, and a bunch of other

Routing all connections through a OpenVPN tunnel
Hi all, I have set up a working OpenVPN2 connection between my Server and my gateway at home. Now I want all traffic to be routed through this VPN connection. Currently everything is going through eth1 to the internet (to the gateway of the University which forwards it to the internet :-). We must use a prox-server and because of this I am not abel to watch the real-Media streams on

IPIP Tunnel
Hi guys, I''m trying to setup an IPIP tunnel between a Cisco router and a firewall running Debian GNU/Linux Sarge with Shorewall 2.0.13. I''ve read and implemented the http://shorewall.net/IPIP.htm document, but I don''t understand why there should be at the same time a "tunnel" and a "tunnels" script. Shorewall still refuses to let the

LocalDiscovery detecting nodes through tunnel
Hi, I have tried the LocalDiscovery feature of tinc. The problem is that it also sends broadcast probes out the CPN interface *and* detects nodes on the VPN. A connection is then established through the tunnel, which effectively breaks connectivity between the two nodes. I do not think that discovering hosts on the VPN makes sense in any way. How can it be disabled? I could easily netfilter

tunnel iax via gnophone with ssh?
Hey all...I'm trying to use gnophone to connect to my asterisk box behind my firewall..I thought I could just setup a tunnel with something like ssh host.com -L5036:asteriskserver:5036 and just change my gnophone to connect to localhost:5036 but I never see anything happen on the asterisk server. I'm even trying this on the same network just in case there is something funky with NAT.

Hi, I have searched the archived, and see this question has come up with some frequency, but the solution by the original poster is never posted or the question is not answered completely.
