samba 2.2.2 domain security w/ win2k AD
Samba 2.2.2 on Solaris 7/SPARC. Windows 2000 SP2 domain controller (native mode). Joined samba to domain as per htmldocs/DOMAIN_MEMBER.html. [global] workgroup = DOM security = domain password server = charon However, connecting to shares as non-guest fails due to authentication problems (below). As htmldocs/DOMAIN_MEMBER.html indicates this does work, is there some other magic that needs

Error using Rd2dvi on OSX
Hi, I run R 2.5.1 on Mac OS 10.4.10 and fail to build a package manual. Below is the transcript. The problem is a "pdflatex: command not found" error but I think that I have a fully working latex install (installed with iInstaller) as I use TeXShop with no problem. Could someone help? questions about winelib
I need to write a win32 program. However, my workstation is a Linux box. I was goingto create a cross compiler and compile my code and run it on wine... However, I heard about winelib, and allegedly I can just use winelib and compile on my linux box using good ol' gcc and it will just work. Is this true? If so how would I set that up? Where can I find the docs?

Strange interaction of sftp and protocol version 1
As I read the manpage, you need to enable Subsystems to have the server support them. [...] Subsystem Configures an external subsystem (e.g., file transfer daemon). Arguments should be a subsystem name and a command to execute up? on subsystem request. The command sftp-server(8) implements the ``sftp'' file transfer

Automatic printer drivers for Windows clients do not work
Hi All, My problem is that when I "connect" a printer by right-clicking it on \\smbhost\printers (on a Windows client), it seems to install the printer fine (without error), but I can't print (it seems to print, no error message or so, but it never makes it to the printer). I was able to install the printer drivers both via the Windows GUI (wizard) and via rpcclient (please see

winbindd and ftp
Hello, I setup samba2.2.2 with winbind. samba is a member of domain with security=domain. Now both work well. Since there is no user in /etc/passwd, and user information gets from PDC(a win2000 server). The question is: there is no /home/xxx directory too.(I don't want to make it manually). I can configure /etc/pam.d/login with : session required /lib/security/pam_mkhomedir. so when

click on any of the "ntdb?" directory, it just cd into the directory and nothing else happens. I don't see the files I should see... it doesn't seem to "redirect" the connection on server "smbhost". Does the "smbhost" in the symlink need to be a netbios name or can it be a fully qualified hostname, like smbhost.net.private.com ? Does the symlink

After update from 3.5.x to 3.6.23 all printers configured in CUPS they are no longer shared
After update my PDC server from Centos 5.5 to 5.11 and then samba 3.5 to 3.6.22 all work fine, except printers: all CUPS printers shared are not visible and usable from clients. If I put manually each printer (like suggest here[1]) into smb.conf, all printers manually added are visible and usable (this is my workaround for now). In smb.conf I have set: load printers = yes

auth debug log entry incorrect
Hello, just want to report a slightly confusing log entry on auth-debug level I have encountered while setting up Kerberos auth. Users are stored in ldap, Kerberos makes use of the same ldap as its backend, goal was to enable users to use their principals in addition to simple login with mailAddress/userPassword combination. Sample entry relevant attrs: --- mailAddress: sn.gn at example.com
