shared printer won't print
Hi everyone, I have a properly configured printer (with cups) attached to the computer running the samba server. It prints when issued within the command line (lp). When I try to print via samba, the printer doesn't react. I have configured the smb.conf using the man page of cupsaddsmb. The samba log files don't report anything at all (tried to turn the verbose loggin but failed). The

CentOS 6: Logrotate / selinux problem
Ever since a recent power failure I have been getting a Logrotate error. My machine is on a UPS -- it shutdown cleanly, but I suspect that its BIOS/RTC battery is dead, since the machine came up thinking it was 1982 :-(. I reset the clock and everything is fine, *except* I had to delete Logrotate's state files (which had bad dates). But now Logrotate is raising the error: error: error

cups page_log strangeness
Hi there I just upgraded from 3.0.23d to 3.0.25b. The server acts as PDC and print server. The setup is that Win clients automtically download the printers from samba. Worked all right so far. Here is what I did. Compiled the new version and installed it. Stopped smbd and nmbd and copied everything under /old-samba/var/ to /new-samba/var/ "smb.conf" stayed the same. Fired up the

Samba and Cups - number of copies
Hi all... I need some docs about how to intergrate cups with samba... I have install samba 3.2.5 and cups 1.3.8 on Debian Lenny system. I have install a printer ( Ricoh Aficio 3245C PS ) and have work fine... But when I follow the job on /var/log/cups/page_log, I always see that number of copies is 1, doesn't matter if the jobs has 5 or 10 pages... It's always show 1 on page_log... I

Samba/CUPS printing again
Hello...again...Y'all are getting sick of me, aren't ya? ;) Anyway, I am having quite the dilemna about printing. I'm using samba 2.2.7a aong with cups-1.1.5. I know this is an old version of cups, but this is a production server and I don't want to fool with it yet. Anyway, we have 2 printers: HP laser Jet 4 Plus and an Office Jet R80. each are running off a jet direct. One

Print quota still not working
Hi all, I posted about this issue few days back, but haven't gotten any appropriate response yet. Also, I haven't progressed any further by searching google or mailing lists. I am running CUPS-1.1.19-final and samba-2.2.8a on a highly available Debian server. I grabbed "cups-samba-1.1.19 drivers for Windows" from Cups website for automatic driver download to work on Windows

upgrade from 3.0.14a to 3.0.27a; CUPS log files flooding!
Hello, I've upgraded 2 of my Samba servers (out of 100+ Samba servers) in my live environment from version 3.0.14a to 3.0.27a. I'm using CUPS as print system for Samba (Samba is compiled with cups-devel) and I use the "Point 'n Print" mechanism of Samba (Windows) to provide XP users with the appropriate drives for the attached printers. CUPS is configured with RAW queues and

client ip no longer listed in cups page log
Greetings Admins, We use samba 3.0.7 with cups 1.1.20 to serve printing to XP clients. samba and cups originally sat on the same debian machine. Due to load issues, we've moved cups to a separate debian machine and added the 'cups server =' directive to smb.conf. After this, the XP client IP is no longer listed in cups page_log, the samba server IP is listed instead. We need

Frustrated with Samba and CUPS
I'm sure you've seen that subject line before.... I can't get Samba (via Swat) to see my CUPS printers at all. I've tried everything I can think of...the single network-connected printer is listed in CUPS and I've added it on the command-line (via printconf-tui). I can send a test page to it from the CUPS web-interface and also through the printconf-tui interface. I can

cannot setup print in w2k on debian/samba/winwind/cups server
hi. I am trying to get print working and have a hard time indeed... My goal is to replace our nt4 print server with a linux/samba one as we have problems serving printers and drivers to win2000 workstations (and I don't want to set up a win2000 server for printing, and have the same problem _again_ when switching to XP ;-) The situation so far : - Debian woody - Samba 2.2.4-1 - Winbind

Print to PDF file with CUPS
Hi all I've been beating my head against a wall today trying to get a PDF printer set up on our Samba box. It is set up to use CUPS for printing, and from the mountains of documentation/howtos that I've waded through, it appears that when Samba is setup to use CUPS, it ignores the "print command" parameter which most people seem to use for printing to PDF files. I'm

Nb of copies don't appear in page_log file
Hi I am currently using Samba 3.0.11 and Cups 1.1.23 with Windows PostScript drivers and manufacturer PPDs on WinXP clients. When I print multiples copies of a document from a Windows XP box, the number of copies appearing in the Cups "page_log" file always takes the "1" value but the printer prints the correct number of copies. When I do the same on Linux (with the lpr

S3+CUPS+PDF pseudo printer : print command not functional on service
Hi all, I've just set up a Samba 3.0.0 PDC (LDAP+nss) on FreeBSD 5.1, with CUPS as default print stack, which begins to work nicely. I'm configuring a PDF pseudo printer, with the following share : [pdfwriter] comment = Imprimante PDF : g?n?re un fichier PDF printing = bsd path = /var/tmp printable = Yes print command = /usr/local/bin/printpdf -u

RE : S3+CUPS+PDF pseudo printer : print command not functional on service
Thanks for your answer. So for my PDF printer, I switched back to BSD printing (calling cups-lpd), and keeped the local (to PDF printer) print command definition. It works now. I still had to add to cups (which automatically generates the /etc/printcap file) a fake printer with the name of the pdf printer (to avoid the loss of the manual addendum to /etc/printcap for the pdf printer). Samba / Cups and PDF'S
Hi All, I'm not sure if this is a problem specific to samba, or to cups, or to something else. I have a samba 3.0.7 server acting as a PDC, and print server for my wonderfully overcomplicated home network setup. The problem is when I send a PDF to the cups server to be printed, it only prints the first page then the cups mgmt interface will say that the job is completed. If it's a
