idmap uid range 10000-20000: pam_winbind does NOT work ?
Hi all!
Again, unexpected behaviour!
When I set in smb.conf
idmap uid = 10000-20000
idmap gid = 10000-20000
I CAN change and SEE domain users ang groups as I change the owner of a file on Unix:
chown domain+user ./test.txt
chgrp domain+group ./test.txt
ls -l /tmp
-rw-r--r-- 1 user group 0 Feb 4 20:25 test.txt <- I SEE DOMAIN USER AND GROUP

Back to 3.0.1, Winbind and Solaris 9
I've gone back to 3.0.1 to try and get winbind to work with my Solaris 9
machine and NT4 domain. Everything works except user authentication. The
wbinfo and getent commands do what they are supposed to.
I've included a truss of 'su - ganguly'
According to pamlog, the user 'ganguly' has been granted access but it is
still hanging.
How do I do a truss of a telnet login?

How do I get Winbind accounts in LDAP?
I've seen this posting before but I need to get a grasp on this. I am
using winbindd for users that don't have a local account on a Linux box.
I thought that placing the entries below in the smb.conf would create
users in ou=Idmap. Instead the ou=Idmap increments the uidNumber with
every user that is added, but the user ID mappings are stored in
/usr/local/var/locks/winbindd_idmap.tdb. What

unable to get connection thru firewall
Hi,
I've a Solaris 8 with Openshh 3.0.1 (build with these parameters
--prefix=/usr/local --without-rsh --disable-suid-ssh
--sysconfdir=/usr/local/etc --with-ssl-dir=/usr/local/ssl
--with-tcp-wrappers). If I come from the same subnet as the server is on,
I've have no problems. But When I try via the Internet I doesn't. If I run
snoop I can see I get contact with the server:

dom0/domU communication
All,
Is there a way to setup serial communication between dom0 and domU. The idea
is to have some way of exchanging messages between dom0 and domUs.
Certainly, it is possible to use s host-only network, and ssh or shared file
system to exchange data. However, there could be cases where the dom0 is not
networked. You may want to automate configuring domUs from dom0.
Any suggestions.

Samba 3.0 and LDAP as a PDC
Hello all,
I hope this is an easy one, I've read all the howtos but I'm still very hazy
on how to do this. What I want to do is replace my NT4 PDC with a Samba 3.0
PDC with an LDAP backend.
I've got my OpenLDAP up and running with the basic People, Computers and
Groups ou's.
I've put the builtin NT groups in too.
I have Samba 3.0 functioning as a BDC
The trouble is

Trackmania through steam
I just installed steam+TMN and it seems to run quite well apart from sound.
I tried switching to OSS and got not sound while on ALSA I get the occasional "click" and thats about it.
Other software I have run through wine is WAR beta and WoW both of which play sound fine, so I suspect maybe Steam is holding up the sound device or something?
I am on Ubuntu Hardy. I also used winetricks

Mike Meyers A+ CD with wine
I am trying to use Mike Meyers A+ CD that came with his new book on the 701 and 702 exams but I'm pretty new to wine and not sure about the configuration settings that may be blocking me from properly running the application. I am getting an OLE error as well as an error regarding the executable velocity.exe file. I am not sure how to properly troubleshoot the app and I am currently browsing

mike.exe - It used to work.
mike.exe is Counting at Bridge by Mike Lawerence.
It used to work as installed by Windows in a Windows partition and
started with wine version 0.0.20050310-1.2 as installed from the debian
package on a Sarge box with a 2.6.11 kernel.
(It wasn't perfect. The card symbols were odd characters but
the program ran with no difficulties.)
I switched to debian testing with a 2.6.15
