smbgroupedit does not honor ldap parameters from smb.conf
Hello,
I've been using samba-3alpha22 as a PDC authenticating against LDAP. I
am trying to add NT Groups using the smbgroupedit utility.
It seems to me that smbgroupedit always looks in /etc/group and does not
take into account the ldap configuration options specified in smb.conf.
The relevant ldap entries are:
passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://ebola/
ldap suffix="dc=datasoft,

Weird 'net getlocalsid' problem (Samba + LDAP)
I'm setting up a PDC with LDAP (Posix and Samba accounts) backend.
Samba version is 3.0.10 (FC3 x86_64 version). I'm following the
instructions on the IDEALX site. I've done this before with older
versions. It appears some things have changed in LDAP, Samba, and the
smbldap-tools, but for the most part the procedure is the same.
The problem I'm getting is with the 'net

Hai Mathias,
Type: wbinfo --all-domains
You should see 3 domainnames.
BUILTIN => idmap config *
HOSTNAME => ? Dont know where this one maps to.
NTDOM => idmap config NTDOM
I use for example ( for debian ) the following.
I use this as followed.
## map id's outside to NT domain to tdb files.
idmap config *: backend = tdb
idmap config *: range = 2000-2999

Questions about Domain Member server
Hi list,
I have a couple of questions regarding Samba being a Domain Member
of a Samba PDC and BDC.
Situation:
3 servers, running Solaris 9 and Samba 3.0.7. The Solaris
machines are LDAP clients (getpwent fetches info from LDAP).
The Samba domain is called 'ALW'.
Machine 1: PDC + LDAP master (PDC1)
Machine 2: BDC + LDAP slave (BDC1)
Machine 3: Domain Member server (FS1)

No mapping between account names and security IDs was done
Hi all,
I get an error message "No mapping between account names and security
IDs was done" on fresh clean Windows XP SP2 PC when I try to join it to
Samba PDC.
I found many post/questions about that problem, but without solution
that works for me. Mainly, those posts was connected with LDAP, but I am
not using LDAP on that server at all. That server works great for years,

Samba as PDC - No mapping between account names and security IDs was done.
Hello everyone,
I?m trying to set Samba as a primary NT domain controller in my small home network. I?ve been going step by step trough the HOW TO on Samba PDC. When I got to the part where I should log a client (a windows 2000 workstation, no SPs installed) into the domain (called HOME) I keep getting ?No mapping between account names and security IDs was done.?. I guess I forgot to do something

no mapping between account names and security ids was done
I use a openLDAP database for authentication on my Redhat 7.2 server. The
domain is "HOME". I have had no problem adding trust accounts and
authenticating against it.
Today I had to change the name of my Win2K workstation from poseiden to
poseiden1 for compatibility with a package I am testing. Once I changed it
and put in a new trust account, I could not rejoin the domain.
I gave up and

Could not find base dn trying to join a machine into the domain
Hi all,
Trying to set up a samba PDC with 389-fd LDAP I get and error when I try to join my first windows machine to the domain.
I did the smbldap-populate and all seems ok. The point is when I add a machine through command line as:
usr/sbin/smbldap-useradd -w "testmaschine4"
I don't get any error, below I can demonstrate it:
#getent passwd |grep 515

"Account Unknown" problem (Samba3 domain users in WinNT permissions)
Hello,
I'm suffering a estrange problem in a WinNT-Samba3 environment. I have two
servers: WinNT4 (PDC of domain A-DOMAIN) and Samba3 (PDC of B-DOMAIN).
A-DOMAIN and B-DOMAIN trust each other (I had followed the procedures
described in HOWTO Chapter 16 successfully).
The problem arises when I assign permission in WinNT server's folders
(A-DOMAIN) for users in the Samba domain (B-DOMAIN).
