2.4.8
Any idea of a timeframe for a 2.4.8 ext3 patch release? I tried patching the 2.4.8 tree from ext3 CVS, but the kernel source files didn't end up nice enough to successfully compile. -- ___ ___ / _ | / _ \ Ari Pollak - ari@aripollak.com - www.aripollak.com / __ |/ ___/ /_/ |_/_/ NAVY: Never Again Volunteer Yourself

Problem with smbfs on 2.4.18 kernel
Hi all.. I have found some problems on smbfs module in 2.4.18 kernel. I compiled it by myself (not the very first kernel compilation in my life ;-)) and then I have got it. Looks like it touch smbfs module as when I recompile 2.4.18 modules with smbfs sources changed to sources of smbfs from 2.4.17 problem disappears!! My mainboard is Abit BE6 with Pentium III 450 MHz. I am using SuSE 7.3 with

Re: Problems with ext3 fs
Hi, I have read this thread and want to say that I have expirienced the same problem. Once, when I was loged in, one of my filesystems ( root filesystem :( ) became read-only with the same symptoms. But results was more tragic. Almost in each directory avg. 10% of files had incorrect attributes, owner, links, etc. But filenames was correct. So, I was obliged to re-create root filesystem :(

change raid1 from ext2 to ext3
Hi, I want to change my running software raid1 from ext2 to ext3. I'am currently running RH 7.1 with 2.4.18. The raid constist of two 40GB disks on a seperate UDMA Controller (HPT370). The system is installed on another disk. Can I just use tune2fs -j /dev/md0, or do need to rebuild the raid from scratch with ext3? Many thanks for your help! Regards, Ingo

Does anyone know if the 2.4.10-ac11 ext3 patch applies cleanly to 2.4.10-ac12? If so, do you think it's safe to use? Thanks!

nfs, 64 / 32 bit, locking problem
Well, next problem. Because of samba isn't running on alphaserver 1200 with gentoo linux and kernel 2.6.9-ac12 i've simply exported my smbroot (on alpha, it is my fileserver) and have samba running on an intel pentium4 box, also gentoo, kernel 2.6.0-ac12. Seems to work, eccept some locking problems. smbd[9450]: [2005/02/08 17:29:51, 0] locking/posix.c:posix_fcntl_lock(657) smbd[9450]:

Compiling 1.3.1 under RH Linux
Hi, I am trying to compile R-1.3.1 under RH-7.2 Linux. I used the old gcc compiler (kgcc) and the compilation went fine. I can start R and run some rudimentary tasks with no problem. However, when I did make check I got the following error in base-Ex.Rout > fa <- file.access(dir(".")) Error in file.access(dir(".")) : file.access is not implemented on

Is GCC 2.95.2 also unusable?
Does anyone know if GCC 2.95.2 compiles a broken oggenc? My .ogg files sound like they're being played by a CD player stuck on fast- forward. . . . And I wonder what the solution is. Ext3, 2.4.10, and 2.4 in general
Hello, The 0.9.9 2.4.10pre4 patch doesn't apply. There are 5 rejects. The first three are easy to fix, but the fourth in vmscan.c will be very difficult without being a developer. The fifth I am not sure about. This brings up the fact that many of us are using ext3 and have to patch every time a new kernel comes out. I really think we need to strong arm Linus or something and get

AIX issues
Hello everyone, I have been given the task of working out a number of issues with OpenSSH for my company (Hertz). I have been following the mailing list for several days now and I'm beginning to compile a list of who is working on what. To make my task faster, it would nice if the people working on the following issues would drop me a email before I start to rewrite their code and get it

I have two ethernet cards. The Internet interface eth1 is connected to the ISP, who shapes out traffic to 128Kbit. tinc generating invalid packet checksums?
We have a Zenoss server in our main office monitoring (among many other things) an Apache server in a remote network, with a Tinc link between the two networks. The monitoring simply involves making an HTTP request to a URL once every 5 minutes and confirming that a response page comes back. Most of the requests to this particular web server succeed (and similar requests to other web servers

Liveice & RedHat 7.1
Help!! I compiled liveice on a more-or-less stock RH 7.1 (2.4.2-2) server install. It starts, appears to connect (to a Shoutcast server), lame runs using an appropriate CPU %, lists OK on yp.shoutcast.com - but clients can't connect properly (ICY 200 OK then stalls) - & the liveice console "vu display" is blank.
