Samba 2.0.6, SunOS 4.1.4_U1 problems
Hi,
I've been away from Samba for quite a while now, but am currently
upgrading to 2.0.6 at my new post. So far so good with Solaris,
IRIX and Linux, but I can't get it to compile under SunOS (4.1.4_U1).
I'm compiling using gcc 2.7.2 and get lots of the following message
types:
> /opt/gcc272/lib/gcc-lib/sparc-sun-sunos4.1.3_U1/2.7.2/include/sys/termios.h:116: warning: `NL0'

Samba 3.0.0 compile problems (with gssapi headers)
Hello,
I have a compile problem concerning samba-3.0.0 (final) with gssapi on a
Solaris 9 machine. I don't know how to fix this, so any suggestions are
welcome.
Situation:
We use LDAP to authenticate logins of a group of users, so I want to use
this LDAP directory also from samba. (Openldap-2.1.22 was compiled with
BerkeleyDB.4.1, heimdal-0.6 kerberos, and cyrus-sasl-2.1.13).

Samba 3.0.4 + OpenAFS 1.2.11 and fake-kaserver
I'm trying to build the --with-fake-kaserver option in 3.0.4 on RHEL
3.0.
I'm using the srpms provided on the samba.org site
(http://us3.samba.org/samba/ftp/bin-pkgs/RedHat/SRPMS/samba-3.0.4
-1.src.rpm).
My OpenAFS version is 1.2.11, rpms (openafs-1.2.11 and
openafs-devel-1.2.11) provided from openafs.org.
It compiles fine if I omit the --with-fake-kaserver configure option.

Are you using wins?
Try lmhosts for the start?
Are all machines on the same subnet?
Just a few hints to start with ...

Solaris 2.6 rpcsec & MIT krb5-1.3.1 header conflict
Please CC me on replies.
Hi. I am trying to compile samba 3.0.0 on a Solaris 2.6 box. I noticed
that samba needed MIT Kerberos, so I compiled and installed krb5-1.3.1, I
believe, successfully in /usr/local.
I now think that may have been a mistake. Trying to compile
samba 3.0.0, I get the following:

Long awaited round 1 of NeXT patches.
This is about 90% of the core work. I omited a few files from the patch
set since they are basicly small blocks of #ifndef HAVE_NEXT/#endif to
get it to compile.
Daimen, feel free to let me know what you applied and what your
rejecting and why.. so I can work on cleaning things up.
Andre, Only thing of note you may want to look into is NeXT does not
use "ut_user" in it's lastlog.

Compiling Samba3.0.0 on Solaris2.6
Hi, I've been trying to compile up Samba with active-directory support.
I've got Solaris2.6, gcc, openldap-2.1.22 and MIT kerberos5 1.3.1
ldap and kerberos are all compiled up happily.
Running ./configure --with-ads on Samba configures things OK, and the
result is:
Using libraries:
LIBS = -lsec -lgen -lresolv -lsocket -lnsl
KRB5_LIBS = -L/usr/local/lib -lgssapi_krb5 -lkrb5

need help - where to get binaries for HPUX 11.0 for 2 .2.3a AND winbind
Hello Altaf,
You can now pull swdepot of Samba 2.2.3a WITH winbind from the samba ftp
site - this is swinstallable and so you will not need to compile - it
already has winbind built.
You can get it from:
http://us1.samba.org/samba/ftp/bin-pkgs/hp/samba2.2.3a/
named samba_2.2.3a_HPUX_withwinbind.depot
hope this helps,
Don

Pressing either Ctrl-\ of Ctrl-4 core dumps R
Thanks for these explanations - it all makes sense, that is, the
default behavior for a process that does not capture SIGQUIT is to
quit and perform a core dump
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix_signal#SIGQUIT).
Then the remaining question, as Luke says, is: should R handle this
signal? For instance, in interactive mode, SIGQUIT could maybe bring
up:

Cannot compile 3.0.x on Solaris 9
Dear list,
is there anyone who successfully compiled a Samba 3.0.X on a Solaris 9 box?
I tried severl versions of Samba 3.0.* on five rather differently
configured Solaris 9 boxes (Sparc) and ALWAYS get a build error
on dynconfig.c
Sometimes it seems to be a missing ldap-preprocessor define (which is
protested by the compiler although I configured --with-ldap=NO),
sometimes it is a header file
