Trouble adding new users with samba 3.0
Mandrake 9.1, Samba 3.0 (used rpm's) I just upgraded one of my pc's to samba 3.0 today. The issue is that all existing users before the upgrade can log onto the samba pdc with no problems. However any new users that I add cannot log on. I thought that maybe something had gone wrong so I uninstalled 3.0 and any remnants of 2.2.8 and did a clean install of samba 3.0. After installing, the

Samba3.0.1pre3 LDAP Login problem
Hi I read all the HOWTOs I could find on the net about the LDAP PDC and still, I can't get it to work. I want to do a new domain named DOMAINB from the users I imported from DOMAINA (NT4 PDC) using net rpc vampire. It went well and every user is in the DB, including the

Samba 3.0.0beta1, NT4 Joining a Domain Problems
Hi, I'm trying to test Samba 3.0.0 beta 1, and so far, one problem I have spent the last couple hours trying to solve, is a problem I am having joining the domain with an NT4 workstation. The samba server is a PDC, and when I try to join the workstation to the samba controlled domain using the root account (which worked on Samba 2.2.8 just fine), I get a message on the NT workstation that it

Strange NT_STATUS_PASSWORD errors after upgrade to 3.0.26a
Hi, I just upgraded one of our samba BDC's (with LDAP back end on solaris 10) from 3.0.23c to 3.0.26a and can no longer mount shares. The error message I'm seeing in the samba logs is [2007/11/15 14:15:26, 1] auth/auth_sam.c:sam_account_ok(172) sam_account_ok: Account for user 'dbb' password must change!. [2007/11/15 14:15:26, 3]

Can't Find NT or LM Password
I am running Samba (from CVS source tree) using OpenLDAP for user authentication. I keep getting NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE message when trying to connect with smbclient. I have debugging turned-on and see: [2003/01/28 13:25:04, 3] auth/auth_sam.c:sam_password_ok(260) sam_password_ok: NEITHER LanMan nor NT password supplied for user testuser1 So it appears that for some reason the password

NET_SAMLOGON issue
Hi all, I'm having a little trouble with my Samba setup. :-( I hope some SMB protocol guru will be able to say to me what's going wrong! I must apologize as it's a bit long and heavy in your mailbox, but this is not a trivial issue and i think it requires some explanations to be fully understood. So let's go! Here is my setup: - I use Samba 3.0.1-pre1 as PDC. Domain is called

problems after upgrade from 3.3.2 to 3.4.0
Hi, After upgrading one of my samba servers from ubuntu jaunty (3.3.2) to karmic (3.4.0) I cannot access the shares any more. The server (FINTLEWOODLEWIX) is set up to check authentication via a PDC (IO), which is also running 3.4.0 (and has been before). Guest access is allowed so that any users without a local unix account will be granted read access. Valid users are allowed read/write. After

Strange problem: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Hi, we have a very strange behaviour today. On of our clustered (by heartbeat) samba server don't want provide shares anymore. Every user is blocked with message "access denied". So I thought there is a problem with mapping of users/groups. But wbinfo / id / getent are working fine. Do I move the share to another node everything works fine - the shared folders and the smb.conf

no logon server
No takers thus far. These are the Samba 4.2 changes to which I previously referred (https://www.samba.org/samba/history/samba-4.2.0.html) : For the client side we have the following new options: "require strong key" (yes by default), "reject md5 servers" (no by default). E.g. for Samba 3.0.37 you need "require strong key = no" and for NT4 DCs

SAMBA Interdomain Trust relationships
I have two SAMBA PDC's with an OpenLDAP backend. My goal is to establish an interdomain trust between the two domains so that users from each backend can login to Windows systems by specifying accounts from either domain. I've followed the steps to establish the trusts and I can see accounts and groups using wbinfo and getent. I can access resources/shares from each domain but I'm

Printing from WinCE5.0
I'm trying to print through network, from WinCE5.0 machine to Debian machine with Samba printer share. The problem is, tht only first 1024 bytes of print data are spooled and printed. Printing to Samba share from WinXP or Win10 or Win98 works fine. Also printing from WinCE to printer shared on WinXP works fine. I've tried various smb.conf parameters to no avail. I've viewed Samba logs,

rsync: network "bind interfaces only" command for rsync?
Hi, Is there a network interface listen command for rsync so that for a system with multiple network cards and multiple IP addresses - rsync will only be visible on a defined interface and defined IPs? Like in samba?: e.g., bind interfaces only = True interfaces = eth0 193.xy.zz.aa 193.xy.zz.ab Can't seem to find such a thing in the documentation. Cheers, Lachlan.

Rsync and trying to mirror Linux user areas
As root, I am trying to mirror a Redhat 7.3 Linux user area onto another Redhat 7.3 Linux box using rsync. This is using the following type of command: rsync -a -v --stats --safe-links However, rsync cannot mirror most of the user area because of the default permissions for the user areas. e.g., opendir(user1): Permission denied opendir(user2): Permission denied drwx------ 3 user1
