Problems with 2003 Server and Samba 3.0.1
We have a Windows 2003 server that is a member of a Samba 2.2.8a domain. We
can browse to this Samba server through "My Network Places" and map a drive
to a share on this server. We also have a number of Samba 3.0.1 servers
(running Solaris 8 and Red Hat 7.0).
These are member servers of the Samba 2.2.8a domain. Using "My Network
Places" on the Windows 2003 server, double

Slowdown due to change in DC lookup from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2a
I am experiencing slowdown due to changes introduced after 3.0.1 to the various
DC lookup routines. I have it narrowed down but don't know where to go from
here. First the relevant pieces of the conf:

Password Change from Windows machines ("You do not have permission to change your password")
Hello,
I just wasted several hours trying to figure out why I could not
change Samba passwords from Windows XP computers. I'm posting here so
that there is some form of documentation about this on the web.
My setup is basically this:
- Samba 3.3.2 (running under Ubuntu 9.04)
- OpenLDAP user database
- Full O.S. support for OpenLDAP auth, using nsswitch and PAM.

Exclude data using logical
Hi,
I'm wanting to exclude data more than 2 sd's from the mean before proceeding
with further analyses. I've created new logical variables (a and b) and
written them to the existing dataframe. I want to be able to subset the TRUE
observations based on another 2 factor variable. I'm assuming this is
possible, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong, as I get results that

Xen 3.0.1 on Debian sarge kernel crash on Dual XEON Machine
Hello !
I''m using the latest xen packages from
http://packages.debianbase.de/sarge/amd64/xen3/ on debian sarge
with the provided kernel linux-xen0-2.6_2.6.12+xen3.0.1-0tha6_amd64.deb
(xen-linux-2.6.12.6-xen).
I successfully installed that combo on a Tyan GT20 Server with an
Athlon64 3000+ (Venice), 1GB RAM . Thats running fine, I made some

R package that has (much) the same capabilities as SAS v9 PROC GENMOD
I need capabilities, for my data analysis, like the Pinheiro & Bates
S-Plus/R package nlme() but with binomial family and logit link.
I need multiple crossed, possibly interacting fixed effects (age cohort of
twin when entered study, sex of twin, sampling method used to acquire twin
pair, and twin zygosity), a couple of random effects other than the cluster
variable, and the ability to

Upgrade from 2.2.8a to 3.0.1 issues
Greetings,
Yesterday, I attempted to migrate my existing samba file server, running
2.2.8a on Linux (2.4.23), which provides file sharing services to a Windows
NT domain with approximately 150 users. It has been working well for over
a year now, and other upgrades have gone off without a hitch. The samba
server connects to a windows NT PDC. The relevent snip from my smb.conf
file is:

lme object manipulation
Hello:
I have an lme object, say lme_res2, which was generated using the varIdent. I'm trying to extract the double 1.532940 from the object, but I can't find it by attributes(lme_res2) or attributes(summary(lme_res2)). How can I pull it out (so that I can save it to another variable)? Thanks.

trouble with german special chars on smb shares
Setup: two Slackware9.1 boxen with Samba 3.0.1 (tried 2.2.x as well), where
xerxes: is a file server and
shodan: is the client
on xerxes there are 3 shared vfats (the errors I am going to describe occur on
ext2/3 in exactly the same way)
When I do:
dexter@xerxes:/mnt/f/smbtest$ touch Umlaute_???
I get:
dexter@xerxes:/mnt/f/smbtest$ ls
Umlaute_???
Just like it should.

constraining correlations
Hello,
I've searched for an answer to no avail. I am wondering if anyone
knows how to constrain certain correlations to be equal. I have family
data with 2 twins per family plus up to 2 siblings. I would like to
somehow constrain all the sibling correlations (twin-sib and sib-sib)
to be the same while allowing the twin-twin correlation to be
different. Here is some simulated code:

Winbind problem?
I've got a Samba PDC and a Samba domain member server. I successfully
joined the domain, started winbind and run the wbinfo -p; wbinfo -t
tests, both succeeded. But if I do a winbind -g I only get
BUILDIN/group and if I do a wbinfo -u I get "Error looking up domain
users". But ntlm_auth succeeds.
So I'm a little confused. At this point this is a minor issue since

RSA authentication bypassing /etc/nologin
Hello everyone,
I noticed recently that when I had /etc/nologin in place on my
server I couldn't log in when I authenticated via passwords, but when I used
RSA authentication I was able to log in no problem. I looked through the
source, and I think I might see where the problem is. I have a Linux system,
so sshd was compiled with PAM support. Using normal authentication, the

appending data to a row
For an analysis of data from twins, I'd like to do some rearranging in my
dataframe. Currently, each twin has his or her own row. I'd like to add
several columns of the co-twin's data to each row. In other words, this is
the current situation:

FC4, Samba 3.0.14-2, Windows 2K: cannot access home directory
What might be the possible causes of an smbclient NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME

share from a Mandrake Linux 10.1 (Samba 3.0.7) box to my Fedora Core 4 box
