How do I create an IVR/Dial Group that works properly?
Hi all,
I am trying to understand how I can get a simple IVR scenario to work
properly (having already removed most of my hair...).
The basic requirement is as follows:
* Caller arrives at our main number
* Caller is greeted and then told they can enter an extension number, if
known, or wait and their call will be connected to an available rep.
* The IVR then dials a group of extensions (if

solaris 10 winbind authentication with ADS
I'm trying to setup a Solaris 10 Sparc station to authenticate users on
login with Windows ADS. I have found the documentation for this but
having no luck in getting the pam modules to work. Here is what I have
done so far:
Compiling Kerberos MIT5-1.8.3:
cd into the src directory
./configure --prefix=/opt/local
gmake
gmake install
Compiling Samba 3.5.6:
setenv CFLAGS "-O2"

PAM (winbind?) auth still does NOT work on Solaris 9
Hi all!
I'm getting STUCK trying to get pam and winbind working.
Using Solaris 9, Samba 3.0.1 (built as ./configure --with-ads --with-pam --with-syslog --with-winbind)
Kerberos 5 is installed.
It looks like everything is working EXCEPT for user auth when telneting, ftping etc...
(Browsing of Samba box and connecting to it works fine and fast!!!)
PLEASE, HELP!

Windows pre-requisites for login with winbind?
You did not look right it should be there.
https://packages.ubuntu.com/zesty/libpam-krb5
https://packages.ubuntu.com/artful/libpam-krb5
Check this folder to see if "winbind unix krb5" is there.
ls /usr/share/pam-configs
And run pam-auth-update --force to update the files.
! Note, krb5 has by default set : minium_uid=1000

Windows pre-requisites for login with winbind?
Indeed!... you are correct... this does appear to be the kerberos issue uncovered by Rowlands pointing out that I should not need to be manually defining "kdc =", in my krb5.conf.... so with that resolved, I'm hoping we can also find the cause of my original problem.
Incidentally, this was my solution to upgrading Samba on my 17.04 test server, I think moving to 17.10 will

Can't create/update Group Policy in Samba 4.6.5
Hi Rowland
> My DC doesn't know domains users and groups by name, only by uid/gid.
Sounds like you haven't set up the libnss_winbind.so links or
/etc/nsswitch.conf
I had not installed Winbind, but I installed it now. (winbind,
libnss-winbind and libpam-winbind packages).
I configured /etc/nsswitch as below:
passwd: compat winbind
group: compat winbind
shadow:

Make domain users/groups available locally through Winbind
Hi list,
trying to add a new DC on my samba AD domain, I noticed that wbinfo
-u/-g was working properly but getent, id and so on commands no.
The new DC is samba 4.1.7 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x64.
After digging for a while (the other DC was working properly and the
difference was that was running on a 32 bit machine) I found that when
running `id` command with strace libnss_winbind.so.2 was not

Hello,
I?m trying to use winbind to allow my AD users to logon to our linux
computers.
I?m using FC6 and Samba 3.0.23c-2.
I have several problems:
1. When I start linux machine and immediately ofter logging in I try to
check trust secret by running wbinfo -t
I receive this error:
checking the trust secret via RPC calls failed
error code was NT_STATUS_DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_NOT_FOUND (0xc0000233)

Samba 4.1 gentent, ls, no display domain user name on Primary ACDC but wbinfo -u yes
It will be necessary to join this PDC to the domain?
I did this once and it was not me well and I had to restore the backup.
The samba documentation does not say anything of this.
Remember this isnt a member server this is the PDC, on samba ACDC doc say this:
"We do not recommend using the Domain Controller as a file Server. This is due to issues with the winbind internal to the Domain

Another getent problem
I have set up a system to be a member server and installed the samba
rpms. I then copied over the samba config file and changed it to
reflect the new shares and name change. I ran 'net rpc join -
UAdministrator%'secret' and I was able to join the domain.
Started up smb and then winbind
wbinfo -u
and I can see the users in the domain
getent passwd
shows nothing but the users in

Greater than 1 or less than 1?
I have problem evaluating the expression h = exp(x)/(exp(exp(x))-1) for
large negative x. This expression is actually the probability
that y = 1 when y is a Poisson random variable truncated at 0, hence
must satisfy 0 <= h <= 1. However, when
x < -18, I may get an h value that is larger than 1 while the true
value should be a quantity that is smaller than but very close to 1.

Windows pre-requisites for login with winbind?
I'm slightly confused, you appear to have trimmed down the config, but not changed anything.... would you think this would affect the issue where long standing users are able to log in, but new users are not... even after a couple of weeks they are not able to log in via "winbind", although they can authenticate via Kerberos, and obviously log in to Windows desktops.

OK, obviously I am slightly sanitising the output here, but I'm preserving the case, and just replacing local names with generic ones as I did for the config.
