gcc, libkrb4 problem
I'm trying to recompile the source RPM from the FC3 version of cvs (http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linux/3/i386/SRPMS.updates/cvs-1.11.17-4.src.rpm), as the version shipped on RHEL/CentOS/etc has a known bug (version 1.11.2-unix "cvs watch on" doesn't work). The initial configure is failing with this obscure error: configure:2257: checking for C compiler default output file

Add Workstation to Domain - valid local system user?
Hi! I'm running Samba 2.2.7a as Domain Controller, and when I try to add a workstation to the domain, I get always the following logentry (and the operation fails): [2002/12/20 14:30:21, 0] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:pdb_getsampwnam(859) LDAP search "(&(uid=vmware-w2ks_)(objectclass=sambaAccount))" returned 0 entries. Problems with tinc configure with gmp 3.0.1
I can't get tinc to complete the configure script. It can't find the gmp 3.0.1 libraries even though they are installed. I saw a fix mentioned in the list archives, but it didn't work. Can anyone else help me out? Thanks John - Tinc: Discussion list about the tinc VPN daemon Archive: http://mail.nl.linux.org/lists/ Tinc site: http://ftp.nl.linux.org/pub/linux/tinc/

Favorite print command for SAMBA on Sol 2.5.1
I am having problems with the HP printers that are being handled by a Solaris 2.5.1 machine. The boring details are towards the end. The SAMBA print command I currently use is: print command = echo %u - %s to %p at %T >> /tmp/smb-print.log ; \ lpr -P %p %s ; \ rm %s ; These are EXACTLY the way they are in the smb.conf file. The server will print 99.9% of

[PATCH 00/09] arm: tools: build for arm64 and enable cross-compiling for both arm32 and arm64
The following patches shave some rough edges off the tools build system to allow cross compiling for at least arm32 and arm64 based on the Debian/Ubuntu multiarch infrastructure. They also add the necessary fixes to build for arm64 (which I have only tried cross, not native). I have posted some instructions on how to compile with these patches on the wiki:

[PATCH] SSE2/SSSE3 optimized version of get_checksum1() for x86-64
What do you base this on? Per https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/x86-Options.html : "For the x86-32 compiler, you must use -march=cpu-type, -msse or -msse2 switches to enable SSE extensions and make this option effective. For the x86-64 compiler, these extensions are enabled by default." That reads to me like we're fine for SSE2. As stated in my comments, SSSE3 support must be

Can't build 3.0.4 under QNX 6.1.0
I've been trying to build Samba 3.0.4 on QNX 6.1.0. 1. I downloaded the source tarball "samba-latest.tar.gz" from a mirror site. The downloading was done on an MS-Windows system. The tarball was transferred to the QNX box by loading into Emacs on MS-Windows with "M-x find-file-literally" then saving it with Emacs's ftp facility: "C-x C-w

Cannot apply delete-sent-files.diff on solaris platform
I have been trying various ways and looking though the lists, but I can't seem to find a solution. I am running a Ultra2 with Solaris 9 and rsync 2.5.2, with the old -move-files patch. I want to upgrade to 2.6.3 with the delete-sent-files patch. Which I understand is the new and improved version serving the same purpose. Unfortunately my patch under Solaris did'nt work, so I d/l
