share mounted MANY times...
I've been searching for a solution to this problem for a few hours now, but google searches are coming up empty. I have 3 Linux boxes all running Suse 9.1 and samba 3.0.2a. The 3 systems are: Novi - the samba server Newberry - mounting novi Sagola - mounting novi This work great, until "mount -a" is run. Each time mount -a is run, we get another mount of novi. using chown on server with Domain username
Just replied to another thread with the same problem... This is on a member server, not the DC. No the second chgrp command with the escaped space doesn't work. Getent returns big numbers for the uids and gids.... too big, I think. root at florence:/home# getent passwd Administrator administrator:*:4294967295:4294967295::/home/IOL/administrator:/bin/false root at florence:/home# getent

using chown on server with Domain username
Hi. I'm following this document: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_Samba_as_an_AD_Domain_Member - setting up my second Samba server in a test environment. We're planning a medium to large-scale deployment (six sites, 8 domain controllers, 8 NAS boxes, 120 workstations). I've already set up an AD Controller and successfully joined a Windows workstation to it. I got down to

Getting Owner of Files on Mounted Windows Share
Hello everyone, I have an obscure issue that I have been so far unable to find the answer to. I have successfully mounted a windows NTFS file share using samba via the following command: mount -t smbfs -o username=<USERNAME>,workgroup=<WORKGROUP> //winserver/winpath /mnt/win It mounts just fine but performing an ls -al command shows my user (or "root") as the owner of all

process hang when accessing a mounted smbfs
Hi all, I installed the samba 3.0.3 on a Fedora Core 2 and then samba 3.0.6-1 and still have the following problem. When I mount a smbfs, it sucesses but processes hang when they access the mount point and smbumount returns "Device busy". Since even system halt fails unmounting the filesystem, I have to switch off the machine. I tested either with smbmount command, or /etc/fstab

smbmount problems when mounted share goes offline.
(using samba-2.0.7 on Debian Linux 2.2.15) Hi, I'm wondering how do I get around the problem when you smbmount a share on a win32 machine and that machine reboots, the mount becomes a blackhole. If you attempt an 'ls', 'df' or anything that would access that mount point the program then goes into a state of void and cannot be killed, leaving the proc open until reboot

Windows Workgroup, private network with a Windows Vista PC sharing a folder for full access to a specific user name. The share is browsable and readable from other PCs on the network. I can mount the share on linux (Debian /Ubuntu) with no errors BUT have no permissions on the mount point once mounted (see below). # mkdir data # mount -t smbfs -o username=xxxx,password=xxxx //CHEDDAR/data data

smbfs mounted files created owned by root?
Hi all. We have been denying NFS access to our Linux et al users since they can of course set their uid to whatever they want. So we tell them to use smbfs. But when I just tried experimenting by mounting my own network share on my Linux box via smbfs, and created a few files, I loo on the serevr and the files are all owned by root?! This has got to be a configuration issue right? -- Mark E

Update R 2.1.1-1 -> 2.2.1 on UBUNTU
I've installed Ubuntu 5.10 Breezy on my Mac. When using MacOSX, I used to work with R 2.2.1, but now, with Ubuntu, I can't download it with synaptic. I can only download R 2.1.1-1, and I really need 2.2.1. I've tried to edit the sources.list file, typing deb http://cran.R-projet.org/bin/linux/debian stable/ R/r, using a different mirror,... but when I run synaptic, it says: W:
