Samba3 and Domain Admin group mapping and use pbms.
Bon app?tit ? tous, I have a small problem regarding delegation of domain administrator rights to a 'normal' user (eg. not root or uid!=0). I maybe fooled myself believing it is possible in Samba3, reading Samba-HOWTO-Collection.html#WKURIDS, that a user could be also a domain admin. I've created group mappings (with good RIDs) for main groups (eg. SID-512, SID-513, SID-514,

domain group mapping in 3.0.23a issues
How does one create all of the builtin groups for this release? When using tdbsam with previous releases one would automatically get such groups as: System Operators (S-1-5-32-549) -> -1 Replicators (S-1-5-32-552) -> -1 Guests (S-1-5-32-546) -> -1 Domain Admins (S-1-5-21-1832519723-2688400599-3493754984-512) -> domadmin Domain Guests (S-1-5-21-1832519723-2688400599-3493754984-514)

No admin privileges after upgrade from 3.5.8 to 3.6.0rc3
Hi, since I was bitten badly by this today, I take the additional time to report this issue here. After upgrading from samba 3.5.8 to 3.6.0rc3, Administrator on the xp clients (yes, still xp sp3, no vista, no win7 clients here) lost its admin privileges. My Samba PDC setup evolved over about a decade now, but since it still needs to support a small environment only (20 xp, 30 users), I

Trying to configure a SAMBA 3 PDC with OpenLDAP
Hello, I have some problems trying to configure a PDC with OpenLDAP backend using Samba 3.0.1. My LDAP server is working fine and has the samba templates. I am able to configure users. The procedure I am using is I first create the user in the LDAP server using posixAccount, shadowAccount, etc. Then, as root, I write smbpasswd -a user and it works fine. I get the same effect if I use

[LLVMdev] Loop vectorizer preamble
Hi Arnold, Nadav, I've been taking a look at the preamble and bailout tests created by the loop vectorizer, and I can't help but feel it could be rather conservative. I'm not a vectorization expert, so I apologise in advance if say something obviously wrong... I'm looking in particular at the overflow check and the trip count computation. From my reading, it goes something like:

vfs_shadow_copy2 cannot read/find snapshots
Hi Sebastian, why are you using shadow:snapprefix if this is just ?snap?? Does it work using ONLY shadow:format = snap_GMT-%Y.%m.%d-%H.%M.%S ? If you use snapprefix you also need to use shadow:delimiter (in your case this would be ?_?). However, I never managed to get it working with snapprefix on my machines. PJSIP / T.38 - Asterisk not passing on v21 preamble and data
Dear list, happy new year! I am still trying to make T.38 work. In the meantime, I have upgraded to Asterisk 13.1.0, and I am using the most recent PJSIP library (compiling that stuff myself). My local fax software is capable of T.38, as is my ITSP; Asterisk sits in the middle, of course. Asterisk is in the same private subnet as the local fax software and talks to the ITSP through a NAT'd

machine account with w2k
Dear Samba Friends, I've a problem to join with Windows2000-Clients a Samba-PDC. When I join the samba-pdc with a WinNT4.0-Client it is no problem, first I create a machine-account for the machine: 1. in /etc/group exists the group: machines:x:515: 2. useradd -g machines -d /dev/null -c nickname -s /bin/false neuch205$ 3. pdbedit -a -m -u neuch205 In this way, it isn't a problem to join

Can't add machines to domain after Debian-Update
Guten Tag Samba-List, after updating my Linux-Server from Debian Etch to Lenny, some of my workstations (W2kSP4) couln't log into the domain. I removed the machines from the domain, changed the name, created a new machine-account, but I still can't add the machine to the domain. My /etc/smb.conf (see below the logfile) is unchanged since Debian Etch. Perhaps someone

net group question
I groupapped the domadmins group in linux to ntgroup="Domain Admins" but instead of mapping to the SID number ending in 512 it's creating a new SID number endind in 2025 mapped to domadmins... Does anybody knows why??? It worked in the previous server. This is the command I execute net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=domadmin If I use the rid=512 option I

Group mapping problem
Hi, I have Samba 3 as Domain controller. From a Windows 2000 Professional I share a folder (c:\test) with access permission for certain domain user (MYDOMAIN\yo). I can access to that folder from other w2000 with that user validated into it. If I add that user to a unix group (domadm) and map this group to Domain Admins (net groupmap modify ntgroup="Domain Admins"

Q about net groupmap examples on samba.org
Considering the following page... http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/man/guide/small.html First of, my compliments to John for some great examples to study. In my mind I see three levels of security: 1) Linux - such as SSH'ing into the Linux server, Linux accounts and groups come into play here 2) Samba PDC - "Domain Admins" "Domain Users" come into play here. Examples
