smb panic when trying to use printer (samba 3.3.11/CentOS5.4)
Hi everyone,
I recently wanted to try Samba 3.3.11 for CentOS 5.4. At first, I
tried the Sernet packages then I compiled my own packages but in both
cases, I get the same error messages (SMB?PANIC) when I try to
install/delete/use printers in Samba. At first, I thought this was a
right issue on filesystem (due to messages "Permission denied" in
logs), so I change many rights at many

smb panic when adding printer with apw
Hi,
I'm using samba 3.3.15 as domain member in an w2k8 ad. We're using the
w2k3/xp add printer wizard to add a printer to the server. Since the
update from 3.2.15 to 3.3.15 the apw fails when clicking on the "finish"
button. At the same time a smb panic occurs and fills the smbd log with
the lines below.

INTERNAL ERROR Report
I have read the BUGS.txt file, used 'testparm' (successfully), and run
through all the steps in DIAGNOSIS.txt. I don't see any problems that
those tools have identified. The BUGS.txt file indicated that INTERNAL
ERROR was almost certainly the result of a bug. I'm hopeful I have sent
you the information you need. Let me know if there is something more I
need to send.

I realized that my choice of options for grep did not do a very good job
of including the last error message before the INTERNAL ERROR. I've
included it in this email. Sorry.

My W2k client generates internal errors / panic in samba ?
I have a small site running Samba 2.2.8a from SuSE and I started wonder about the "stability"
of Samba running with W2K clients, when I installed W2k on a machine that previous ran Win.98
without any problems.
After the W2K installation's had been finished (with all security fixes, new drivers etc.) I noticed
that when accessing shares on the samba server, Samba began generating

smb_panic + Backtrace
Hi all
After running samba 3.0.0 for a couple of days I get messages like this in
my logs which look a bit suspicious :-) to me.
Anyone knows what this is all about? The result ist that copy jobs etc. are
just signing off.
Sorry for not entering this in the bugzilla thing. I am not too familiar
using it.
The samba version is 3.0.0 running against ldap 2.1.22

Samba Folks:
I'm having what seems like a relatively benign issue with Samba 3.0.2a.
I'm running SuSE 9.0 (with all updates) on an Athlon XP, 512MB RAM,
RieserFS on SATA hard drives. Linux kernel version 2.4.21-202-athlon
(from SuSE).
I can repeatedly and predictably get the following error in the log.smbd
file when connecting via Mac OS X. (smb://serverIP/) I get the same

Panic / internal error signal 11 on access samba share
Hello to all,
After years of worriless use of Samba, I've stumbled across a strange
error
when building up a new system based on an Alpha PWS-600au.
My distri is based on Gentoo. The Samba source is 2.2.8a.
After compiling, configuring and running, my server is visible and all
shares are browsable. If I would copy a file to this share (very first
thing), an error pop ups (network resource is

Problem uploading printer driver on 2.2.8a (FreeBSD 4.8)
Hello,
I have an annoying problem. I have declared a printer for which I want Samba to download drivers onto the clients.
So I have configured print$ share, the printer itself (by BSD printing), then connect the printer to my W2K client (SP3 with ALL RPC updates applied, including today's one).
And it fails :
- on the windows side, I have a popup : unable to install <name of the driver>

Possible bug in samba-2.2.8a-1...
Hi,
I found what seems to be a bug in smbd (and smbclient?) from samba-2.2.8a-1.
Scenario is the following:
All users have accounts in linux box "mate", with homes mounted via NFS
from linux box "fserver". mate and fserver run samba-2.2.8a-1, mate ONLY
validates passwords and has no shares; fserver in turn, ONLY shares [homes]
and [netlogon], but has no users, so samba uses

Samba 3.3.7 -> smbd panic in printing.
Hi everyone,
Recently upgraded to 3.3.7 on a test server (can do everything on it

migrating from Samba 2.0 to Samba 2.2 (AIX)
hello,
I'm trying to migrate a rather simple configuration from a
Samba 2.0.6 to Samba 2.2.8 , on an AIX system.
smb.conf stays exactly the same & checked with testparm.
File sharing works fine again, but not printing : smbd meets an internal
error when a NT box tries to launch a print job.
Sample of logfile :
