Incredibly slow Roaming Profiles
We've just set up an internal domain, and had a single XP Pro machine join without any difficulties. But we need this machine (and the other handful with it) to use Roaming Profiles, which is posing something of a speed issue. I have logged on, killed the 'You do not own the profile' tidbit, fixed up permissions, and finally gotten XP to read the profile from the SAMBA server

issues with Windows 7 roaming profiles
Hello, I have a centOS 5.5 box acting as as a PDC with samba 3.4.9 and openldap 2.4.22. Then I joined the domain with a centOS box (samba 3.4.17) which hosts the homes and profiles. I have no problem with XP clients. I can join a windows 7 client to my domain but it is unable to load the profile when logging in. See below a level 2 log.smdb from the file server when I log in with a domain

Samba and LVM
I've recently set up an Openfiler 2.2 system, with a few disks under md (RAID6), LVM on top of that, and formatted ext3. When snapshots are in use, large file transfers (transfers of large files, or transfers of many smaller ones) are disconnected - Leaving a Windows 2000 client with an error like 'The network resource is no longer available'. Re-trying works, but cuts out again

linux 2.6 closing connections
Hello list! Are there any known issues regarding samba3 - linux 2.6 kernels? I'm getting disconnects every 20 seconds or so, both via cifs and smbfs mounts. This occurs regardless of whether the connection is in use and sometimes leads to I/O errors (even doing 'ls' on a mounted dir). It is not consistent though, and seems to be triggered by high network traffic. When it is

samba3.0.1.pre3 and samba3.0.1rc1
Dear Samba-Team, I already wrote to Jeremy Allison an he told me to post my problem to you: I have the following problem: The smbd and winbindd start fine, everthing seems to be okay, all users can be authenticated. But a few minutes later the winbindd is suddenly unable to authenticate some users against the Domain. You can see it in the snapshot. Messages like "Unable to initgroups"

Member server only shares locally
Hello In 2 different subnets I have setup 2 identical samba servers (RH 6.5) as fileservers for windows clients. Each is a member of it's own AD Domain (Windows 2003 Servers). The problem: one of them only is accessible and sharing locally. On the windows-client, trying to mount a share gives this error: C:\Users\testuser>net use y: \\samba_server\topfolder /user:testuser System

Have you locked at samba-3.0.2a/source/nsswitch directory ? Normally the pam modules and nss libs are there, you need manually copy that to /lib/security (Debian system. maybe different in your distribution) Also remember to run ldconfig after copy the files to the lib directory. Make sure that you /etc/pam.d/login is, some like that: passwd: winbind files shadow: files group:

Samba as Domain Member Server Authentication Problem
I've been working for hours with Samba on Ubuntu Server 9.10 (Samba version 3.4.0), trying to get it setup simply as a fileserver that performs authentication to an NT 4 server (yes, I know, old and out of date). After much struggling, I finally realized that my configuration *was* working when the clients connecting (from XP, and Win2k clients, mostly) were actually joined to the domain

specific client machines can't write / execute others can and oplock causes panic
Hi all hope you can help, I have a mixed XP / 2K client deployment, and the samba server is running as a PDC. On most machines I have no problems, but on 2 2K machines and 1 XP machine I'm getting the same behaviour every time I either try to write the file or execute a file, no matter whether I log on to the domain or which userid I log on as. I'm also running debian woody 2.4.19, and

Access denied to shares samba 3
Hi, I have samba-3.0.23d-1tr on a trustix 3.0 system. This samba was joined to a win 2k3 domain and it works perfect for lot of months. Now I can access only to tmp share, and samba server is very slow to expose all shares. If I launch wbinfo -u or wbinfo -g, I still see the users/group from win2k3 server, but in the log of my winxp client (whose name is Euro15), I see: [2006/12/27 11:52:31, 2]

Permission denied but ok?...
Was just browsing web and tried to save some files on a samba share and got: permission denied 3 times in a row... (and now on 4th try, it worked). The log for the past hour looks a bit odd... why so many module reloads? wouldn't they load once? Also I've never seen the "New VC == 0, if NT4.x compatible we would close all old resources." Why would I get so many session

Getting errors while running Samba 3.0.7 with ADS security mode under MIT Kerberos
Hi, I compiled Samba 3.0.7, MIT Kerberos 1.3.5 and OpenLDAP 2.2.17. I did not notice any errors during compilation. I searched and found the #define HAVE_LDAP 1 and #define HAVE_KRB5 1 statements in the config.h file of Samba 3.0.7's include dir. So, ADS should be supported in the compiled Samba 3.0.7 version. Here is what I did up to now. As described in the How-To Samba doc, I created

Option valid user not expanded for groups
Hi, I have a AIX 5.3 machine with Samba 3.0.24c joined into one Windows 2003 ADS server OK. I can request basic information, user lookup, domain lookup(wbinfo, id, net groupmap). When I want to acces the share \\node05\brom from one Windows station I receive a popup window password. In the log of the samba for that machine I found: [2007/04/27 10:48:27, 2] auth/auth.c:check_ntlm_password(319)
