Connection refused, access denied (Windows XP trying to connect on samba's shared printer)
Jonny, Did you ever get your shared printer issue resolved? If so, how? I'm having exactly the same problem and I didn't see that anyone responded to your request for help on the lists.samba.org group. My setup and problem is pretty much the same as yours was Win XP pro can see printer share on Linux RH9.0 (kernel 2.4.20), but cannot get access once the drivers are configured. Any

Printing OK on 98, "Access denied" on XP Pro
I have a very simple setup on a Solaris 8 server, running Samba 3.0.1 (see smb.conf below). A desktop PC running Windows 98 (SE?) happily connects to and prints to my one shared printer, but an XP Pro laptop takes a loooong time to install the local driver and then just says "Access denied, unable to connect". I already told it to use a client driver and disabled spoolss. Here's

Excel - share Access Denied after opening file
I have a strange problem with Excel + Word from an XP Pro (SP2) PC to a Linux Samba share (HOME). If I 1 - open Excel, 2 - then open a file on my Samba share HOME, 3 - any subsequent attempts to save or open a file on the HOME share immediately result in an 'Access Denied' windows error message as soon as I select the root of the HOME share! The same thing

VMware Printing Problem - Access Denied, Unable To Connect
Running Samba 2.28 on a SuSE Linux Pro 9.0 system, equipped with VMware Workstation 4. A Windows 2000 Pro guest OS is installed in VMware. Printing from the W2K OS doesn't work. I was able to add the printer as a network printer OK (it appears as a network printer when using My Network Places to browse to the Linux Samba server), but the printer status reads Access Denied, Unable to Attach

Need help debugging the printer related "Access denied, unable to connect" message
1. The printers are Samba/CUPS. 2. Clients are Windows XP Pro & 2000 Workstations. 3. "Access denied, unable to connect" appears in the printers window on the clients - nearly always. Very occasionally, it displays what it's supposed to. 4. Seems to be a cosmetic problem since it does not affect actual printing. 5. Can some guru advise what level of debugging to

Initially I checked my server disks, partitions and virtual memory status and verified that everything is okay. My SMB.CONF is: ; ======= BEGIN SMB.CONF =========================== [global] netbios name =

Printer Problems (Access Denied)
I've seen this issue asked about and asked about in the archives, unfortunately I can't seem to find a real solution only people's theories. The issue involves a 2.2.5 Samba server acting as a member print server in a Windows 2000 domain. I can add printers from the server to clients in the domain and then print. The issue comes when I try and view/manage the print queue from Windows.

Setting Windows drivers gives access denied error
Good morning! For some time I have been experiencing a problem with adding Windows drivers for printers available and configured in CUPS already. Not being utterly familiar with how the process works I first tried it as root from different Windows machines, both W2K and XP Pro. I saw the driver files being uploaded, but then got an error message 'Printer settings could not be saved.

Re: Need solution to Printers window access denied, unable toconnect message.
Hi Ronnie, if your printer do work, this message is useless for you, trash it. I cannot confirm Tim's hypothesis, but i can say i presently have the same problem as you: in the printers folder there's that red message alerting me. My PC is running Win2K pro. I did not mind it, right-clicked on the printer's icon (my specific case is: lpq@router.x.y) and chose 'connect...'

"Access denied" errors with version 3.0.20
Samba version 3.0.20 running on FreeBSD 5.4-Stable. Certain users on certain machines are losing access to my fileserver--one moment things are working and the next, they don't work. I can't figure out how to regain connectivity for those users on those workstations (running Win XP Pro). Please help! At about 08:15 on 3 Oct 2005 I was able to save a log file of the problem in action.

Re: Need solution to Printers window access denied, unableto connect message.
look in the smb.conf man page for "disable sspool" I think thats the right option. It needs to go in your global section ie disable sspool = yes Cheers ------------- Kristyan Osborne IT Technician Longhill High School 01273 391672 ------ Computers are like airconditioners: They stop working properly if you open windows. Printer access denied problems
I've had a nagging problem for a long time where I cannot connect to my printers from Windows 2000 or XP. I'm using CUPS printing and Samba 3.0.14. I've seen people report a similar problem where they can print, but can't open the queue or manage the printers. The message you get is "Operation could not be complete. Access is denied." I found the problem to be

First attempt file access denied subsequent file accesses granted
Hi List, We?re running 3.0.28.el4.9 on CentOS 4.7 in a production environment with one minor annoyance. This is a very inconsistent behavior ,frequent enough top be annoying ,yet unpredictable enough to warrant this email. Our Samba server is serving up a wide variety of files but in this instance in particular are Visual Fox Pro tables (*.dbf). When a user wishes to open a Fox Pro

NT4 Domain Member Server Access Denied v3.07
I want to set up a Samba Server (Cactus_3) as member server in our NT4 domain (PDC is Cactus_1, BDC is Cactus_2). We have about 50 client workstations most of which are WinXP but we have a few Win2K and Win98 machines. Shortly we will migrate off the NT4 servers but in the meantime we wish to test some real time scenarios. It is for this reason that I want SSO so the tests are transparant

smbd/service.c:make_connection_snum - Access denied
Hi, Two days ago, I tried to turned my samba server, which worked perfectly into a PDC but despite of all my efforts, skimming thru the docs, mailing lists, hanging on #samba, I've never been able to logon to the new domain from the WinXP clients. Authentication is OK, but then access to the share is denied. Here's part of the log: [2006/09/28 19:03:36, 2]
