sambaProfilePath and sambaHomePath when adding a BDC
I have a Samba3+LDAP PDC running. I set it up long time ago following de IDEALX howto and using smbldap-tools. The domain is called PRINCIPAL and the PDC netbios name is SMBSERV. In my LDAP tree, users have (among others) attributes like these: dn: uid=bachillerato01,ou=Users,dc=guaydil,dc=prv cn: Usuario prueba para bachillerato ... sambaProfilePath: \\SMBSERV\profiles\bachillerato01

roaming and local profiles on same domain
I have samba 3 configured and running fine as a PDC with LDAP as the back end user database. I have most users using roaming profiles but there are a few I would like to be able to only have local profiles. Is it possible to configure samba to use both types of profile rather than one or the other. I have the profile path set on each user account in LDAP as the field

%macros not expanded in ldap attributes?
samba-3.0.8 Are the % macros not expanded in LDAP attributes? For example, the following is the only way sambaProfilePath works: \\SERVER\share\path If I substitute sambaProfilePath with, say, \\%L\%U\path, then it doesn't work anymore, although the same string works with logon path in smb.conf.

upgrade 3.0.1 -> 3.0.2, problem with homes-share
Hi! We are using Samba 3 in SuSE-linux 8.2 with ldap. After upgrading from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 we got following problem: When users log-in homes-share is not allways reachable, so automatic homedrive-mapping and roaming profiles doesn't work. This doesn't happen everytime, but quite often. And after login users can map their homedrives manually. Users have following attributes in LDAP

Roaming Profiles under LDAP backend
Hi, To this point I have been careful about mixing Win2K and WinXP profiles when using samba as a PDC/Profile server. Settings I have used have been like the following... logon path = \\%L\profiles\%u\%m (in smb.conf) with a typical profile directory as follows... drwx------ 14 test wheel 512 Mar 14 11:32 Win2K drwx------ 17 test wheel 512 Oct 27 18:22 WinXP lrwxr-xr-x 1 test

Roaming Profile problems
Hi, we are using samba 3.0.10-17 with openlddap 2.2.6-37.22 as backend. We use roaming profiles, but because of problems with different operating systems and the profile size, we want to use locale profiles. I tried to change logon path in smb.conf in an emty string, but no changes, if I delete this entry in smb.conf, samba use a default value and this is on the server. So I tried to change

%a substitution broken ????
Hi there, I have a strange problem with my profiles. They aren't saved in /profiles/WinXP but in /profiles/%a instead.... I have a "sambaProfilePath: \\stperay\profiles\%a\dgenthia" in my ldap and it always ran with samba 3.0.20. I also have "logon path = \\stperay\profiles\%a\%U" in my smb.conf.... as in the old smb.conf. Is the %a feature broken ? Thanks ;-) Eric

what is the best way to delete so many queue files?
Hello, all. I found that so many unnessary queue files are saved at /var/spool/clientmqueue/ directory. I tested two way to delete these files. 1. # rm -rf /var/spool/clientmqueue/* 2. # cd /var/spool/clientmqueue/ ; find . | xargs rm -fv But this makes a few load of the system and took too much time to delete. What is the best way to delete fast without too much load?

Samba and LDAP - which attributes are mandatory which optional
Hallo, I'm asking myself, which LDAP attributes are mandatory which optional for user and workstation accounts. After using the smbldap-populate command there where different attributes set than for adding users with the smbldap-useradd command. --- snip --- sambaAcctFlags: sambaHomeDrive: sambaHomePath: sambaKickoffTime: sambaLMPassword: sambaLogoffTime: sambaLogonScript: sambaLogonTime:

Help needed with Windows7 roaming files.
Hi all, We've been trying to setup/upgrade a samba PDC (version 3.56) with OpenLDAP as backend and roaming profiles for Windows7 (32bit) Clients. windows7 has no problem with login after applying the reg patches, however, it seems to always load a temporary profile as opposed to roaming one for users, no local profile is created. this has caused Outlook 2010 to function improperly
