Re: Swiss Hosts for Ruby on Rails
Why exactly does your customer want a Swiss host? Is it for "patriotic" reasons, or do they think it''ll be quicker? If they think it''s going to be quicker, you should let them know that with an American host the difference would be negligeable and with a German host, it would be pretty much impossible to measure a difference. But, if using a swiss host is really

Roaming Profile problems
Hi, we are using samba 3.0.10-17 with openlddap 2.2.6-37.22 as backend. We use roaming profiles, but because of problems with different operating systems and the profile size, we want to use locale profiles. I tried to change logon path in smb.conf in an emty string, but no changes, if I delete this entry in smb.conf, samba use a default value and this is on the server. So I tried to change

Hierarchical models in R
Is there a way to do hierarchical (bayesian) logistic regression in R, the way we do it in BUGS? For example in BUGS we can have this model: model {for(i in 1:N) { y[i] ~ dbin(p[i],n[i]) logit(p[i]) <- beta0+beta1*x1[i]+beta2*x2[i]+beta3*x3[i] } sd ~ dunif(0,10) tau <- pow(sd, -2) beta0 ~ dnorm(0,0.1) beta1 ~ dnorm(0,tau) beta2 ~ dnorm(0,tau) beta3 ~

Samba 3.0.0.-2 logon script not running!
Help .. I've struggled with this for a few weeks and can't get anywhere. I'd like for someone to point me in the right direction, if possible. I have laid out below my complete samba setting in the hope that 1) Someone can find a solution to my current problem 2) It might help someone else, as I overcame a few problems with these settings myself, under samba 2.2.8a.. please note

Samba roaming profile with folder redirection
Hi, I have a domain controller which was configured to use the local profiles. We have a relatively small group whose work required it. Now we are moving toward using the domain for all machine with roaming profile. There are a lot of posts dealing with the roaming profiles and the folder redirection. But I've met some issues. My configuration: NS3 and SMB are hostnames of our servers.

[R] R is creating a new level which is emty after importing a SAS file
It is not obvious that this is an error. If your nominal variable in SAS has a level which is not present in data, then R might just be making a faithful translation. There is a distinction between (a) having a gender variable with two levels of which 0 females and (b) pretending that male is the only possible gender. Anyways, droplevels() is your friend. (Notice that it easier to remove levels

Hi I've got a samba PDC (samba 2.2.3a, RH 7.2, kernel 2.4.17, client is WinXP pro). I have a question about the homedrives-part in smb.conf. My smb.conf looks like that [homes] comment = Home Directories browseable = no writable = yes valid users = %S create mode = 0664
