Can't write mount entrysmbmnt failed: 1
I've compiled and installed samba-2.2.8a on an embedded linux/uClibc system, and I'm having problems using smbmount. I've appended the debuglevel=10 output of smbmount. What does smbmount mean when it says it "Can't write mount entry"? I tried running it under strace to see what it was writing to, but all I saw was: rt_sigaction(SIGTERM, {0x10000000, [], 0x408160},

Locking problem reported when starting smbd on a second systen!
I was successful installing and configured Samba 2.2.5 on my first Solaris machine. However, the second Solaris machine returns errno=11 (EAGAIN ~ Service Temporary Unavailable). I have tried to delete the "locks" directory to remove possible "old" locks - upon startup the smbd create new log files, but the same errors are reported again. Why only on one of my systems - I

Samba 3.0.0 RC1: Unable to find a suitable server
Hiya, I compiled the RPMs of Samba 3.0.0 RC1 according to "../samba-3.0.0rc1/packaging/RedHat/samba.spec" and installed the binaries from the freshly compiled rpm on my up2date Redhat 9.0 Server. The command "net join -U Administrator%****** -d10" creates following error: ***** SNIP ***** [root@samba30srv RedHat]# net join -U Administrator%******** -d10 [2003/08/19

A little utility for checking socket settings
I've been in discussion with a colleague who had to reduce (!) SO_SNDBUF to get decent performance, and so wrote this little tool. It tells you the system default for most of the settable socket options. It can't do linger, as the value is a struct instead of an int, but that's probably uninteresting to Samba folks. Run this to see what you'd have if you didn't set any

Having a problem ...
Running a Windows 2000 domain; recently we've made some security changes to deny anonymous users from being able to get at our user list. It would appear that one of my Domain Controllers hadn't been rebooted after that security change, and now that it has been rebooted, I can't mount smb shares off of one of our if the security setting is in place. On a Windows 2000 Domain

Mounting Samba client
Very often we could not mount clients via smbmount. In case of error there is a following log (debug level 10). Any hint/suggestion would be great. smbclient-2.2.8a cannot connect to samba-3.0.0 server
Hi I have a problem with subject. I have a samba 3.0.1 server to which both windows and linux (using smbclient version 3) users can connect perfectly. But smbclient version 2.2.8a or earlier users cannot connect to this server. I have searched release notes, changelogs, the linux.samba newsgroup and found no indication of others having the same problem. Most likely it is something I have

Problems with Samba 2.2.7 and Mac OSX?
I have a FreeBSD server running Samba 2.2.7.. I've turned log levels to 10... I have a user who needs this machine to do her job, and she uses Mac OS X. She routinely cannot connect to this box, and gets an error -36. The logs show *NOTHING* when she tries to connect. The machine is properly joined to the domain, and I can reach it from Winblows. Help? Thanks, G. SMB log: [2003/06/30

smbclient/samba not working properly
Hi, If this has been answered already please point me to the right place. The thing is I am having problems getting smbclient from samba-2.2.8a package to work properly. I have used Red Hat 9, Suse 8 and Gentoo before migrating to LFS 5.0. In all earlier distributions it worked fine so I think the problem might be LFS specific though my mind refuses to believe this. Synopsis of the problem:

knit and smbclient executed with different users but no error thrown
Hi Paul, I think -U is just ignored when -k and a valid ticket is available. Here you have a valid ticket, you use -k to ask smbclient to use credentials from that ticket, and you add -U for another user. Please try same smbclient command without -k, it should ask you the password for test123 user. That's not a bug, for me it is a lack of documentation on how to use -k switches with almost
