Unable to see linux filesystem with samba running
Hi I am new to Linux. I am using Redhat 9.0. I have installed the Samba software, configured the smb.conf, added my client Windows XP box into the hosts.allow, hosts.equiv etc and started the smb service. Still I am unable to map the Linux share on to my Windows XP box. I have tried enabling and disabling the XP firewall also. I can see the Linux machine name in the Windows explorer "My

preexec and msdfs proxy
Hi, I was wondering if someone had any thoughts as to why "preexec" doesn't fire when "msdfs proxy" is used? Where can I find the slirp-helper?
For the libvirt 5.8 release, I find that there is a new comment in qemu.conf: #slirp_helper = "/usr/bin/slirp-helper" It indicates that there is a slirp-helper to help setup slirp network. But I cannot find it even after I built the latest qemu(v4.1.0-1378-g98b2e3c9ab) and libvirt (v5.9.0-rc1-2-g73f91d659b). Could you please tell me where I can find that helper program? Thanks --

preexec and msdfs proxy
ok ok ... Names have been changed to protect the inoccent. This installation is being used to mitigate a server migration by providing read-only access to the new shares under the old server name. We have duplicated all the current shares on the new server (NETAPP) as {share name}_ro and created equivalent shares on the SAMBA installation as DFS proxies that point the client to that read-only

preexec and msdfs proxy
Msdfs proxy is pointing to another instance of samba servers, it passes through. I think running preexec there on the other instance will do the trick. Need util to resize parition (Off Topic)
Hi all, Sorry to post OT but I'm a bit stuck and I thought someone may know the answer. Originally I installed Red Hat 5.2 with 2 paritions, boot and root. I upgraded to Red Hat 6 (kept the original filesystem) without a problem some time ago, but now I want to upgrade to 7.2. When trying to install the upgrade it tells me that the boot parition isnt big enough (by about 90k!) so I thought

Able to Mount home, but getting failure errors in logs
Hi, I have a few users that are creating errors like below. These users have mapped a directory via Samba and also have it connected. They can access their home directory or other directory via Samba fine, but it is strange that every hour on the hour there is a failure put into the log (even though they are working). My server is joined to the Domain and it is using

preexec and msdfs proxy
Hi, The Server to which the msdfs is pointing is a netapp. Though we theoretically can access the shell on it then begin to mess around there, we would really like to avoid that. Warranty and such make it a bit of a legal issue. That is the reason we went with a separate instance in the first place and now wonder why the preexec doesn't fire. There is nothing in tmp of the msdfs box. Like

Urgent RHL Samba problem update
We have Red Hat linux 3.0 ES. We had samba set up so that it would authenticate against the linux password file/database. That is the set up we have had here for the past two years, firstly with RH linux ES 2.1 and now with RH linux ES 3.0. Our users have Windows XP/2000 PC's, and when they would use the net use command on their PC (or mount network drives via Windows Explorer) it would
